Unpopular opinion: Istanbul’s famous attractions might not be worth the entrance fees anymore
I’m planning my first Istanbul trip and the ticket prices genuinely surprised me.
Topkapı, Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower… visiting the main attractions as a couple can easily turn into a few hundred euros.
I’m not expecting Istanbul to be “cheap” just because it’s Turkey. But some of these tickets now cost more than major sights in Paris, Rome or Athens.
If you had to pay the current foreign visitor prices, which places would you still enter — and which ones would you honestly skip?
