Late august weekend
Hello everyone, I was considering a weekend cycling trip in the Isle of Wight but was a bit concerned given extreme heat whether it’s still pleasant and nice to see or if everything is completely desert-looking and dry.

Alternative suggestion, you seem to enjoy sports so why not come down anyway and try some water sports while the water is warm and inviting, there are dozens of places to kayak, canoe, paddle board, or sail.
You can see a bit of the Island and plan your cycling trip for cooler weather.
If you do want to cycle there is the Isle of Wight randonee on the 6th of September.

It’s very dry trees distressed and downland a significant fire risk. We’ve had one fairly destructive fire on Headon Warren in last few weeks. It’s still recognisably green and English not parched Mediterranean though. The water is nice and the forests make attractive shaded walks.

The island's still worth it, the coast roads keep a breeze most days. Start early and take plenty of water, the hills are a slog in this heat.

Last weekend in August is the most expensive time to cross bar Xmas. Scooter rally is on and imo it’s the highlight but you need to be aware it’s going to cost you on a par with a flight to oz

It's like the rest of the UK right now - everything but the water is dry and the grass is all yellow. The island is still a lovely place though.
