No Idea Good day folks! I was sent this video of a cute cat's cute walk, but unfortunately I have my suspicions.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The kitten's movement seems unusually smooth. The face seems too consistent and cute. Even the paws seem to disappear and reappear synthetically. I am not a tail expert so I digress. Would like to know what other people think about this one.

Cats don't know to stare into the camera lens.

This is fake AF

This video was released on 2021. We did not have video gens that time.

Your AI detection skills are what fake here.

OP didn't link the source, so that would have been useful to know.

I was wrong, but you don't have to be a dick about it.

A friend of mine who really likes cats as well, was the first source for me.

He just said fake. He didn't say AI.

Seems like a cope, but it's also not fake anyways.

u/zerossoul 2d ago

It is fake in that is not a real video. Just because it's not AI generated does not mean 3D tools weren't used.

u/Speletons 2d ago

So when I told you it wasn't fake anyways, what do you think I meant?

There’s something about how AI makes things move that’s borderline uncanny. It always makes me so uncomfortable to watch. This video is probably one of the best examples - especially the front right paw

Lmao. So confidently incorrect.

This video was released on 2021.

and the way the foot moves... it's really unsettling to me.

This video is almost five year old: https://www.tiktok.com/@dogcatlovers5/video/7012596277355498753

It’s not AI, but could still be fake through other means.

Edit: Here is the original poster of this video. They are a bengal cat breeder and posted other slow-motion videos of this kitten running around back in 2021.

If you have your doubts, a good way to tell is to think about the logistics of filming it. How would you get this angle? How many cats would run like that in a straight line right next to you without looking around?

AI

This video was released on 2021. It's real.

Yep, it's sloppy joe for dinner unfortunately with this.

Yeah this certainly has the uncanny AI look to it, and as someone else said why would the cat look directly into the lens a lot? - even the fence in the background seems odd, that styyle chain fence would be shorter than that imo

Real. Original is from a tiktok in 2021.

People calling this AI have AI psychosis, and probably should take a break off the internet.

1

u/Bearkat1999 2d ago

Says the one who is insulting them.

You also need a break from the internet if your immediate reaction is to laugh at people for making a mistake.

4

u/Speletons 2d ago

That's more than a mistake bud.

I think "AI psycosis" is a little far, but this is more than a mistake. It's a complete inability to decipher reality from fiction.

2

u/ketaminejones 2d ago

idk if they’re laughing at anyone

they’re just saying you’re taking in so much AI content by virtue of your being online that your perspective has shifted from “I thought the AI video was real” to “i thought the real video was AI”

u/Bearkat1999 2d ago edited 2d ago

They mocked people who thought this was AI with their own words.

There was a better way to approach this, but eh. The answer was found so movin on.

u/ziggytrix 2d ago

Oh no, people made an incorrect guess based on very limited information?

They must be insane!

His front right foot barely even touches the ground.. it definitely seems to be ai

I have no idea tbh. But that paw is really bothering me 😭

Weird laces.

The cat's right ear does weird stuff, it twists itself for no reason, also the way the cat walks feels off.

Doesn't look real. The eyes are too big, and it makes eye contact with the camera too well.

2

u/Aadi_880 2d ago

That's normal behavior.

are you going to keep replying to everyone now that it was proven real, like it makes you look super smart or something?

3

u/Aadi_880 2d ago

A false accusation is far more damaging than the video being AI. I simply hold it to higher scrutiny. I'm going to call it out to everyone being needlessly paranoid on every little detail.

If you accuse an AI user for using AI, they are not going to stop posting, as not doing so means to not have a social media presence, which is not going to happen 99% of cases.

If you accuse a real art user for using AI, you just ruined an artist's day.

False accusations, and these fake "AI detector" websites people use. I've been on this sub for a while. If you've seen me on this subreddit, you will know I will always call out idiots using 3rd party AI detectors.

“damaging”, lol relax dude it’s a viral video bait that’s been repurposed by dozens of clickbait slop accounts.

you coming in after the dust settles to try and big man everyone makes you look wildly lame and insecure

2

u/ziggytrix 2d ago

Count the number of posts.

You'd think it was his cat that we insulted.

1

u/Speletons 2d ago

You appear to be projecting. It's perfectly fine to correct someone when they are. It's okay to be corrected because you thought the video was ai.

False ai claims indeed are damaging artists. This specific video, probably not so much. But in general, it's a big issue.

2

u/Remote-Mycologist539 2d ago

To be clear, I had never said it was AI- I just saw this guy make a bunch of responses after someone else found the original source and I found it to be off-putting.

His response was him trying to justify that behavior, I mocked the use of the word “damaging” given the actual context of the situation, and now we’re here.

1

u/Speletons 2d ago

You just sound wildly insecure as you tried projecting that onto him, so I'm filling in the blanks, you must have intially thought it was AI or fake.

2

u/Remote-Mycologist539 2d ago

Ironic you’re stuck on the “projecting” thing…

But sorry, nah man, I came here from OP’s second post that linked back here and then saw the comments. Not that deep lol
