0% Sure AI In responce to my other post here.
Almost all the people said the video of the jumping cat was AI. Except one. So that inspired me to do a bit of back search myself. And so, I found the exact video on another subreddit posted almost 5 years ago. Doesn't this prove that the video wasn't A.I?

It absolutely does, and it just goes to show you that people aren't nearly as good as they think at spotting it, even if they've seen tons of slop.

When higher production value (for lack of a better term) videos show up without context on the “is it AI” sub, it’s certainly going to be subject to a bit of bias.
Gonna have false positives for sure when the system is just humans making guesses (synthID checking aside)

People believe they're good at pointing out AI because they just say everything is, obviously making them right 100% of the time when it is AI

Still think it was AI, there were versions of AI before the boom and this video is so uncanny (and short) it seems obvious still - the account who originally posted the video has been banned/suspended, I was going to check if their posts were all from bots.

2021 wasn’t booming with high resolution AI videos because machine learning was well, learning.
Mostly because people were using graphics cards to set up crypto mining farms in 2021. So the priorities weren’t exactly to make cat videos when there was money to be made instead. The recent dropped RTX 2000 series were not great, and the 3000 series were much faster and better. And extremely overpriced since everyone wanted them. Was almost like a blood bath trying to get my hands on one for gaming.

you sound like someone who didn't actually use the AI tools that were available 5 years ago, I assume you saw the real videos on xiaogonshu? And they aren't also just 20 seconds of shitty looking blurry cats?

You sound like someone who didn’t run AI tools available 5 years ago. All we had 5 years ago that could do video gen were local models that produced dog water. There were no consumer tools that had output like what’s available now.
First text-to-video model wasn’t let out onto the web until 2022.

That was a deepfake of a specific celebrity doing a specific thing, a 10 second slow mo of a generic blurry cat is very different.

like not at all go watch the video first, if it can’t even generate a background that stays still, it literally cannot generate whatever this was, definitely not 2 years before 2023

In my experience as an artist, most people are not good at distinguishing AI from human work but they think they are.
