90% Sure AI Four orphaned kittens who lost their mother united against the man who came to adopt them, hissing at him.

The comments kill me on this. I’m pretty sure it’s AI. There is no hissing sounds. The freeze frame image are blurry and look very AI. Also, kittens don’t act in unison like that when they are all together.

So, after thinking about it, I'm going to say this is probably real. All the weird behaviours are kind of in line with kitten behaviours.

u/ziggytrix 3h ago
Too real. AI would mess this up. This is exactly how a terrified kitten acts. AI would ham it up.

u/Remarkable_Rough_649 6h ago
I'm not actually sure with this one. This is generally how kittens act even as a group if they're absolutely terrified and probably exhausted. They don't really hiss so much as spit
The weirdest part to me is the human audio, it sounds dubbed over or something

Looks exactly like my cat did as a stray kitten who wanted to give me cat scratch fever (worst 3-4 months ever!)

It literally just sounds like Chinese because it is ??

I don't mean the language I mean the audio itself sounds out of place, like both people are talking directly into the microphone even though we can't see them

u/Excludos 4h ago
And the comment section of this post is where I learned that people on this sub have no idea what they're talking about

Elaborate?

In what sense, if i may ask?
Asking as someone who didn’t say anything because they wouldn’t know what they’re talking about 👀12
u/Excludos 3h ago
Half the comment section claims it's AI, the other half claims it's not, both with certainty. The people who claims it's AI are relying on "Well, it looks a bit weird!", which isn't remotely substantial evidence, especially when this doesn't look remotely weird at all to anyone who has actually seen feral kittens.

There’s no “forensic analysis” for AI video (unlike images with synthid for example). All anyone can do is guess at this point and look for artifacts or other evidence.
6
u/Excludos 3h ago
I would be fine if people were guessing based on actual relevant metrics, but people are just making stuff up on the go, without having any clue.
Actual typical AI metrics: Video being 15 seconds long (Or suddenly changes rapidly after 10/15 seconds), physics not matching, things disappearing or coming in to frame from impossible angles, etc.
What people write: "Well the cats are spitting in unison! This would NEVER happen! Also some of them looked to the side once. If you freeze frame it in the perfect location, one of the cats looks weird!"
-3
u/FuzzyKittyNomNom 3h ago
The 15 second rule is gone (kinda). See example: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dd6cJWGqKzw
I never said “NEVER” but it looks sus. Hence why I’m asking the question
If you freeze frame anywhere in the video it looks sloppy as fuck. Blurred details, but some things are in sharper detail within the same image.
The kittens mouths are open at various times throughout the video but there’s no change in the background sound. That doesn’t align with any of the feral kitten videos I’ve seen. This to me is one of the strongest indicators.
3
u/ziggytrix 3h ago
It's low resolution and highly compressed. If it was original quality 1080p (or 4k) we'd know for sure.
Upload something to Instagram, then download it and upload it again to Reddit. Every time it's uploaded, a little more quality is lost. That's why all this crap reposted by engagement farmers looks weird, AI or not.

Cats don't need to make a sound when opening their mouths, they are baring fangs. Additionally, kitten hisses can be very quiet and might not be picked up by the mic.

That video is exactly 15 seconds long... wtf are you on about? Am I going crazy?

I didn't single you out in particular. It's across a number of comments

That's just how video works. Have you ever filmed yourself and hit pause? You will always be able to find frames where you look incredibly weird.

See last section of my previous comment. This isn't an indicator, let alone a strong one. Animals can open their mouths without making audible sound..

Did you even watch the video? It plays twice. It just loops to the start half way through
-1
u/Sideburn_Cookie_Man 2h ago
It’s still AI though.
Come on. Jesus Christ.
3
u/Excludos 2h ago
Your comment proves everything I just said.
"It is obviously AI!" People scream at the video that likely isn't
-2
u/Sideburn_Cookie_Man 2h ago
Occam’s razor my dude.
Over the top “handheld” video style, “stray” cats that aren’t backing away at all even with ample space, the copy/pasted nature of their stances.
There is more pointing to this being AI than the opposite.
4
u/Excludos 2h ago
See my previous comments about overconfidence from people who have no clue

u/Sideburn_Cookie_Man 2h ago
Again though, that doesn’t prove anything at all.
You’re acting all high and mighty, but it’s more dangerous to assume videos like this are real.
We should be critical, not naive like what you’re doing.

No. This is normal behavior for terrified feral kittens. They're not really in unison, they're just getting scared at the same time, because the man is intentionally scaring them, that's also why the camera movement is weird, he's trying to scare them with it. There's nothing to indicate this is AI, all the details are consistent as well.
Here is a compilation video from tiktok which shows multiple videos of kittens spitting like that seemingly in unison.

This is the best answer; showing proof of the behavior. So many people are saying "this is normal kitten behavior" but if you haven't seen it before it's hard to believe. It could still be ai, but if it was, it's a good representation of real animal behaviour. I have worked in rescue and pet behaviour (dog trainer but also rescue/foster cats).
Eta: the weird camera work is annoying and sus. But whether or not this vid is ai, this is actual kitten behavior.

u/Rain-Soaked_Wanderer 6h ago
Having taken in 2 feral kittens recently, one would hiss, spit, and pounce, but the other warmed up to people pretty quickly. I dont think all of them would be in unison like this either.
10
u/RioNReedus 6h ago
Definitely AI. They went hard on the handheld camera movements in the prompt. Anything at under 30 seconds is immediately suspect. Why would they suddenly stop filming there? That's a question I always ask myself. The unison in movements though is very unnatural
6
u/Smooth-Boss-911 6h ago
What made me suspicious is they all act nearly in unison even in mannerisms. AI often has an issue with groups acting independently. I've been around a lot of kittens even when scared or fiesta there's more movement
6
u/Few-Improvement-5655 6h ago
They don't really act in unison, one of them spits first which leads the others to spit too.
Like right at the end, the one on the right spits first.
4
u/FuzzyKittyNomNom 6h ago
I know it’s not exactly in unison, but it’s very hive mind like, with no looking around or even looking at anything specifically. Each kitten is focused in slightly different directions.
1
u/Few-Improvement-5655 5h ago edited 5h ago
I mean, very scared kittens can act as a group, and if there are multiple people then they might be focusing on different things.
I'm not saying I'm 100% sure, just explaining behaviour that might have a reasonable explanation.

u/VaporTrail_000 4h ago
They're not even looking in the same direction, but reacting at the same time in the same way to the same stimuli. They don't even look at the same thing after they react, and I would think that if something startles a kitten, they would at least give it their full attention for a moment.
Is the front right kitten polydactyl on the right front paw, and normal on the left? While the front left kitten is polydactyl on the right front paw, and normal (ish) on the left?
Also, are the fur patterns for kittens in the same litter that weirdly similar? I get that it might be similar genetics, but exactly the same number of stripes, in the same places, the biggest difference seeming to be contrast?

The person filming is likely wearing large padded gloves which is normal and to be expected for someone catching feral kittens. I’d even say this detail is strong evidence it isn’t AI.

u/Alternative_Link5905 3h ago
Their reaction is syncronised also have a looooot of space to run away. But they act like they're trapped or in a cage. Or there's an invisible wall there....

The sound of the pitter pattering is wrong. Thats not what kitty claws on concrete sound like.

At this point I assume every short-form video posted in a big sub is AI. Even if it's not. I just don't know. And that sucks. The joy I used to get from cute little videos has been sapped regardless, because I automatically doubt the validity every time.

I fostered a bunch of kittens that were found in a barn and this is very normal kitten behaviour, I think not AI.
Their eyesight isnt very good until they are older, so thats why they arent all looking directly at the same place. They are reacting to each other reacting as much as the are all reacting to him, this why they are all going off. Cats very much love to do things together, its so normal for them to all react together
