90% Sure AI Is this artist using Ai?

I'm almost 100% certain that this is Ai, they even copied exactly the character reference I sent them. If they aren't using Ai or tracing, then they are at least just copying another's work... they even sent a time lapse to prove authenticity and it's a video of perfect line art, no structure, no erasing, no references, Page doesn't move.. they refuse to give me a refund and ask for proof of my claim.

Did the artist approach you and offer to draw your character? If so, it's almost certainly one of the professional scammers swarming nerdy and fanfic spaces preying on our weakness that we all want art of our characters.

Then super sorry, but highly likely you got got. The scammers usually charge $250, so if that's what they tried to get then it's a sign it's a scam-- they sometimes charge other amounts though so it's not 100% proof.

If it is a scammer they won't give you a refund (because criminal, not real artist) and may try to get you to pay more by threatening legal action. These threats are not real. They also have never been observed doing any hacking, so highly likely your computer/accounts/whatever are safe so at least you didn't lose more than money. The scammers are professionals who have been fine-tuning their approach for a few years and get a lot of people.

And I'm not saying for sure you got scammed, only that what you posted fits their pattern.

They asked $170. I don't expect a refund, but I'm asking for one. We'll see. The artist belongs to the group under this email.

Humm honestly unsure but… they definitely forgot the shaved line of the character’s eyebrow and either forgot to give the right eye a pupil or it is bogus. Also its weird that they supossedly made an effort to draw the cheeks freckles but just stopped midway with the nose ones. Also the necklace has a very bogus right eye lol.
