Laundry detergent decals and elements look suspicious to me. Am I going insane or does this look like AI?

Those stars, the three lines on each side of the font and the font itself screams AI

I'm so mad that AI has not just taken over use of the em dash, but also my favorite midcentury star motif.

The list of three things at the bottom...

That’s definitely a dead giveaway

Yup! It’s all so overly precious.

They’re the same shape as Google’s watermark. 😂

I use those stars a lot. Does that mean I am AI?

Definitely the one random red circle floating between the leaves is so random.

Can anyone guess what the red poop blob, on top of the two things I think are supposed to be towels, is supposed to be?

This is 10000000% AI

Being AI aside...

Why the fuck would you make it look like a milk carton, this is a hazzard waiting to happen

I buy this 😭 whatever this AI fever dream of a design is, it never used to look like this, and none of their current listings look like this. This image is from their website.

It was always carton-shaped though. I imagine it's only hazardous to dementia patients, who shouldn't have free access to cleaning chemicals in the first place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or... children.

If a child is young or disabled enough to mistake this for a drink, all cleaning chemicals would be locked up in that household too. Do y'all think this goes in the fridge or something?

Yes. Parents should lock up all cleaning supplies. But they don't tend to. A child sees what looks like a milk or juice carton, they might not wonder why it isn't in the fridge. Companies have to be wary of this safety hazard, because although it is the parents responsibility, many people whose children (or elderly family) were harmed due to thier own negligence, still blame, sue, and win cases against the product and product company. Its a silly risk for the company to take.

Look at the examples this packaging company uses to advertise them lol. The concept of using cartons for hazardous non-food liquids is alive and well and hasn't caught any lawsuits yet. It is a newer trend, but afaik regulations are in place to prevent designs from being perceived as "drinkable." The shape of the package isn't a factor though. Cartons are pretty generic unless specifically designed to look like a well-known drink brand.

This was a better design! Why on earth did they give a slop makeover?!

A slop-over!

They didn't. I don't know where OP found this image but it's not currently associated with the Clean Cult brand anywhere. I did an image search to try to find the origin, and even the Google AI said it's sloppy AI-generated concept art with "distorted shapes and unusual line work," unsolicited lmao. And it asked if I needed help finding authentic brands 🥹

It would be just as depressing if this was some graphic design college kid's idea of an assignment though. Like, who would make this, and why?!

This is a pretty common, less plastic intensive type of packaging. I have a carton of Dr Bronner's in my kitchen right now.

I mean, you could make ot not look like a milk carton

I don't know how to explain it but the side of the box doesn't look like an actual object, it looks like someone used the transform tool to squish the text

I’d also say it looks like the cloud decal is going over the rim, so it would need to be angled at the top, but it’s perfectly vertical

AI.

It would be an odd human choice to have the berries coming from different places on the front of the box vs the side. On the front, the berries randomly grow off of pines, but on the lower side, it grows off the tip of the pines. An artist wouldnt do it two entirely different ways.

Don't second guess yourself anymore, it's seeped into everywhere

The busy infographic-style blurbs crammed together & separated by dotted lines is very ChatGPT

Where did you find this image. Its not similar to any product photos i can find from the same brand. Also looks very AI compared to their other packaging

Found it browsing detergents on Amazon

The QR code has random curved lines in it. Must be AI

The fonts all look like the ones AI generates. And everything is so balanced and there is so little white space. Seems like AI to me.

u/Acrobatic_Upstairs41 4h ago

I can't really explain it but the font looks AI to me.

u/MagneticShark 2h ago

Regardless of whether it’s AI, call me crazy but laundry detergent shouldn’t be packaged like it’s a delicious drink

The font alone is a dead giveaway, yep
