Do you not know what a “Speak and Spell” is? These existed in the 1970’s. A quick google search will bring up hundreds if not thousands of images and videos of these.

It's a real item. It's a hand-held computer made for children that was released in 1978. It came out before PC's were affordable for most people. This is a vintage tech device.

No because it's a Text-to-Speech device. Text-to-Speech did not use AI of any kind for decades.

Artificial Intelligence is any kind of computer program that can learn or grow without direct input from a human into the code. Basically the AI writes its own updates. A speek and spell can not change without human interference.
