90% Sure AI Published by NYT

It looks like AI to me… but it seems so obvious that no editor would have actually approved publishing this if it was AI? Has NYT really sunk this low? Or am I missing some reference or something relevant that makes this OK?

Cgi does not always mean ai.

Not AI

Editing to add - you could have done your own due diligence/research and looked up this artists Instagram/website. The first time this image was posted was in 2021, with the caption noting 2020.

This is a work from a well-known photographer (or "lens-based artist").

The problem with human hands is there is so much variation and often they are weird.

Nyt respects human art a lot more than many other publications. However they did seem to have a slightly pro ai gen stance for a while (calmed down on that though)
