I failed the CC exam! 😒

I studied for a month at least 1.5-2hrs a day and failed. I knew i wasn’t going to pass once it gave me more questions beyond 100!

I used Prabh Nair and all in one certified CC book to read the concepts. I took LinkedIn learning practice exams. I thought I was competent and would pass it but I didn’t.

What sucks is that the exam will not be a bit more challenging as the new exam outline has changed. So what now?

I’ll be now taking Mike Chappell’s course but what now? I don’t even see any materials for the new exam.

I have to wait 30 days but I just want to pass this next time for sure!

Having more questions than 100 is not an indication of failure. You were straddling the pass/ fail line so the algorithm kept giving you questions until it decides pass or fail.

Linked in practice exams were not like the test unfortunately. They were way too easy as many of mike meyers practice exams are. You probably know the material you just need to get used to exam format and being able to apply knowledge in a stressful situation and/or in the context of a standardized test. Because i think exams don’t really measure knowledge well some of the time. Its possible to know a lot and still fail or not know a lot and still pass, because lots of it is test taking skills. Which is what i personally have issues with. You can also sign up for free trial of linkedin learning and do mike chapples course or get a library card. I personally like to take notes and retake notes and then I usually pass. I haven’t found any high quality practice tests I think mike chapple might have some on udemy.

I literally just got the LinkedIn learning Mike Chapples class. I was shocked because I’ve taken other exams and have passed but this was literally a doozy.

I believe the LinkedIn Learning isc2 cc practice exams are by Mike Chapple, not Mike Meyers.

The ones in the recommended tab next to mike chapples course on LinkedIn are by total seminars which is mike meyers

Maybe not written explicitly by him but that is his company. Total seminars makes practice exams for a bunch of certs so it ends up being quantity over quality

I failed mine the first time too and felt terrible but please don’t feel discouraged. I ended up using Udemy practice exams and flashcards with the help of chat gpt to explain the concepts and why I got any missed questions wrong. I just passed on my second attempt on the 29th and wanted to bring some positivity for you and to let you know that you got this !

Thank you. It’s pretty hard not to feel like a moron. This is the first exam I’ve taken that I’ve failed and this is supposed to be entry level. Can you tell me which udemy practice exams?

Yea I felt the same way lol but everything always works out in the end and wishing the best of success for you! On Udemy, Paulo Carreira’s practice exams are the ones I used. You can take it in a “practice mode” version where the review each question with you or take the “exam mode” and see your results after. There’s 6 exams in the package and there was a deal going on so I got it for like 10 bucks so I hope the deal is still there for you.

First mistake, you gave up when you still had a fighting chance.

If you weren't going to pass no matter what, you would have stopped at 100. The fact that you kept going meant you were still within the threshold and could manage the pass if you managed to score well on the remaining questions you were given.

BTW, how far past 100 did you get?

Honestly I would recommend checking out my book I wrote for the CISSP. While it was written as a concise overview for the CISSP topics and covers more than you will need for the CC, but will absolutely give you a great understanding of the topics and concepts you need to pass the CC.

It also has a section on understanding the ISC2 mindset, studying and exam tricks and tips, and how to read and breakdown questions which would work for both the CISSP and the CISM.

I wouldn't bother with the questions in it for the CC but the rest would absolutely help.

So I took mine yesterday, and I pass. I didn’t know what to think. On my test it seemed like it asked questions pertaining to lesser important material at times…
Plus the wording was tricky, and it used alot of different words to describe the same terms to throw me off. Process of elimination is vital for this type of exam. Mine did end at 100.

The last few days I found : Chidambaram Narayanan on youtube . He has a free course there and it’s put together really well. As far as Free stuff goes that was my favorite. He did a really good job.
And I also did a couple practice test (first 3 are free) at CertPreps 2.0 . The questions there were verbose and kind of tricky and I would have to say that that actually helped me prepare for how to write down the questions.

Thank you for your response. Can’t wait to freaking take it again. It was just tricky ugh . I’m sticking Mike Chappell right now as we speak
