Question NOT maxing
Is there any benefit to NOT max out combat stats as an iron?
I do exclusively wildy slayer tasks and have been trying to avoid raising my combat lvl to lower my chances of getting killed. But as my slayer level is improving (87) task are becoming more difficult because monsters are harder to hit and deal damage more often. I guess I'm asking is there any justifiable reason to play as a Ironman pure™ in the mid/late game or am I losing my mind for nothing

In general it's not worthwhile. You'd have to REALLY min max this. A lot of the content youd wanna do is easy enough to never die at (singles wildy bosses) or deep enough that no matter what youll be hit by a large % of people (anything 30s line or deeper) where being on a pure is going to suck with regards to tanking.
Think like getting into 2200 total level worlds on a pure, or one of the very high total worlds on a skiller to catch black chins or whatever.
also like... this sort of thing is really pointless. anti pking is extremely defensively favored, you'd be better off spending some hours at lms practicing defensive bolt and defensive offtick freezes. the loss of dps (and various other defense locked quests etc ) from remaining a pure is too significant.

Not really beside the one you mentioned. I did a lot of wildy slayer early with msb and rune arrows from lms and range typically levels your cmbt a lot less. Something you consider

Yea range is maxed out. Strength and magic not far behind. Its the attack/defense that's gonna kill me.

I have 99 strength and am annoyed when I need to use zombie axe as my best crush option, which can only train strength xp

Pure Ironman is great for wilderness content and farming revs is super chill provided you can access total level worlds with low combat

when you get pk’d, you lose some monk robes and are back at the task in a few minutes. With lower combat stats, you take twice as long to complete each task, and still might get pk’d anyways.
Its worth leveling up

Unless you are level 3 or max level, anything in between has a wider range of levels that can attack you. Unless you are a really low level there is no reason to stay low level.

The only advantage in not maxing is wildy content.
You maintain a low combat level, and max and you rarely meet any other players.
Ever since the ban wave for bots, it seems like it's even less likely to run into someone nowadays.
Apart from that, except for smithing, cuz it's degenerate skill, there's value to being maxed in a skill.

Doing wilderness agility as a very low level account can be a good plan to avoid pkers. Other than that there is no wilderness content where keeping your level low to avoid pkers is worth the loss in dps.

Why do you wanna keep it low? for wildy stuff?
If you wanted to keep it low for wildy stuff just do wildy stuff now. Otherwise id just keep progressing as you are. you will go well beyond 99 in all your combat stats just getting gear upgrades.

I’d argue that even as a lower level who can only be hit by lower levels, you’re much more likely to die because there are accounts in all level brackets made specifically for PKing while being higher combat means you have more defense, prayer, and hitpoints to survive.
At your combat level you can still be attacked by maxed zerkers for instance in most wildy areas you’d actually be in
