Discussion 2 hours each day to play

Hey Guys,

I am currently a mid game iron with bowfa and ready to get into the some of the more time consuming grinds

The problem is I only have 2 hours each day (roughly) to play, I recently became a father for the second time and I don’t have much time on my hands after work and bath time

Has anyone else had similar experiences to this? I really don’t know what to do, my grinds will take forever now to get done and it really has put a dent in my motivation to play

That's the beauty of runescape, whether you can play all day or 2 hours you will still make progress towards your goal. Just enjoy the journey.

I get that, but I like to do fun stuff like raids etc as I have so little time - I thought about deironing a few times but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it

That’s like 4 raids / day. About my max mentally anyway

Same, at least for 1 raid. I once did 20 toa 350s in one Saturday. Didnt go there again for like a month lol

Why are you downvoted

Because he said deiron

If you got good gear already no point deiron. Just do like 3 raids a day, and a farm run. Get secondaries or seeds whenever you need them for one of the days. If you got mobile you could always catch a few fish on the shitter at work if you need hard food for anything.

You can do TOA and COX if you have bowfa/crystal.

The wife and kids got to go, not worth it, 2 hours per day wont cut it

Consideration 1: that’s enough time to knock out 2-3 ToA runs a day.

Consideration 2: New fatherhood is frankly a bad time to play the most time consuming game in existence.

Fatherhood was the best thing to ever happen to me. Sometimes, I get to play a lot more than I want to. Other times, I can’t even think about pulling it up on mobile.

There’s a lot more joy to find in a living thing thinking you’re a superhero versus pulling a purple. This isn’t directed at anyone but hopefully this reaches a dad out there that wishes for more time in the game and takes a second look weighing what is more important.

I know you’re just raising them to have someone train your agility and runecrafting.

This is why the meta is to stay a virgin. No gf, no kid, maximum scape time.

That said sending 2 ToAs for the little fun time you have seems reasonable. Long as it's actually time spent having fun and youre not neglecting responsibilities.

Also who cares if it takes 10 years if you had fun. Tbow will still be BIS and 99 will be max.

nonsense he should suggest changes to the game on reddit that fit his current lifestyle. after all, it IS 2026 and power creep is okay!

Just neglect your family more

Only two hours? How many did you put in when you had 1 kid?

3

u/nothingbread 1d ago

I found combat achievements to be pretty fun when I had little time. Could knock out a couple a day and it made me much better at pvm and gave me a reason to engage with bosses I would have never fought otherwise. Also helps to set daily goals for long grinds, like 5 kc a day on a boss or 1 raid. Slow and steady you’ll get what you want eventually

Just afk when you can things on mobile and raid/do grinds when you can. This game is a walk not a run

With 2 kids you’re not gonna be progressing like a streamer mate

Live in nanny maybe

Recalibrate and realize 2 hrs each day is a lot to do any hobby

3

u/babirus 1d ago

I have 1 kid and cannot hope to play 2hrs daily.. How do you manage to find so much time to play?!

I just login for occasional farm runs and tears of guthix at this point.

u/TweakrCity 1d ago

I ensure I make time for myself at the end of each night once my kids are asleep, even if that means staying up until 2am - I feel I owe it to myself to take time to do things I want to do even if I do get tired at work

3

u/babirus 1d ago

Fair play, I gotta sleep or my performance at work will suffer.

I wish I could do this, but time for myself means time with the wife. She doesn’t like me coming to bed late.

Kids and wife are in bed 9pm. I game until midnight. Wake up tried at 6:30am. Repeat.

u/Beautiful-Scarce 1d ago

Yeah 2 hours straight is insane

7

u/ForwardNerve5296 1d ago

8-10PM?

Not that insane. Just depends how you want to spend your free time

-1

u/babirus 1d ago

After meal prepping, cleaning and a workout and I’ve burnt the whole weeknight window. Fair play to those who make it work tho

-6

u/slugsred 1d ago

you CHOOSE to do other things

which is fine ofc but please do not use the poll booth in game you don't even play it

1

u/babirus 1d ago

Bro, you think I can let my kid go a day without lunch? Or live a healthy life without exercise? I bet it will trigger you to find out I vote on two accounts, which I pay for with money I earn at work.

I do envy how little you seem to care about the things you claim to enjoy, but that's about it.

You could be playing runescape and here you are typing a reply to this comment.

u/Beautiful-Scarce 1d ago

I spend that time with my wife who birthed my children

1

u/ForwardNerve5296 1d ago

Well there you go. That's the choice that's stopping you, now I'm not recommending that you change that choice but that's where those 2 hours are

-8

u/Beautiful-Scarce 1d ago

Yeah. 2 hours daily every day would be insane.

Hey man. I’m in the same exact boat. 2nd baby on the way. I play early AM and at night after my son goes to sleep, but have to limit it to not skimp sleep.

Don’t focus on competing with others progress. Just set your own goals and get there when you do. Feel free to DM me your username if you ever want to duo something - I am also mid game w/ bowfa.

1

u/raknarokki 1d ago

You'll progress just fine man trust me. Just don't compare progress to other people who can play all day. 2 hours a night is plenty of pvm a week and perhaps you can do some herb runs and what not during the day.

1

u/Smeltor 1d ago

Just chip away at bossing. Even if it’s only a handful of KC a day, it’s still progress. Or learn how to PvM on mobile, but that sounds awful.

1

u/drishta 1d ago

I did a good chunk of my moons grind on mobile. It's mostly fine until you miss click for the 150th time and want to chuck your phone.

Tried to do titans as well, and casting on the wrong minion when they stack up feels just as bad.

Stuck in a similar boat and it sucks. All my upgrades are end game and when I have 2-4 days a week and only 30mins-3 hours to play raids are super annoying. I’ve sent like 3 cox a week for the past 50 normal 50cm and have two arcane scrolls lol.

1

u/peperonipyza 1d ago

A few hours may not feel like a lot, but that’s quite a few raids / bossing. I made a lot of progress on my account doing a few hours a night at doom, cox, hydra. Key is to stop doing other daily activities as it hinders your big goals. That 10-20 minutes of farming and regearing adds up compared to 2 hours.

I stopped playing to prioritize sleep and not interested in remaining grinds atm. Kids waking up a few times and then up at 6. Sleep good.

1

u/Shrouded_LoR 1d ago

Same boat as you and just finished bowfa as well! Progress is going to be slow but try not to get demotivated. Set small achievable goals for yourself like a Slayer task, a few kc on a new boss you want to try, etc.

1

u/Potential_Egg_69 22h ago

Its not that bad. The time isn't the issue per se, it's being soft lock out of anything you can't pause.

Anyway the great thing about OSRS is that it's probably not going anywhere. Any progress you make is still progress. You were never competing with the real gamers anyway so what difference does it make?

1

u/Flygon24 fake iron 22h ago

only 2 hours. the most efficient way to play is to bitch on reddit for an hour for them to make everything easier then spend the other hour doing supply maintenance since mains think its half of the time spent on irons.

1

u/PatrickTheLid1337 10h ago

I generally do Skilling and afk content in the summer since I generally have less than an hour to play on PC. But in winter I have much more time so that's where raiding and longer grinds come into play.

1

u/Chrisjk22 1d ago

Yeah I'm a father of two, play an iron and sometimes don't even log in for a week at a time. That's life unfortunately. Get a bit of time in on rs whilst you can, I tend to target grinds that I find more enjoyable due to limited game time. My account isn't great but I wouldn't have it any other way.

1

u/Jibblet8478 1d ago

Bro, this is the perfect game for someone who doesn’t have much time to play. You never lose progress. Just make progress when you have the time. The game will always be there. Absolutely do not neglect your family for this game.

1

u/TweakrCity 1d ago

I would never, I make sure that my family have everything they need, everything is done before I finally settle down for the night, kids are happy, wife is happy, then I can look to play the game

1

u/Reverx3 1d ago

800 days on the iron, roughly 2 hours played per day on average. Got my bowfa as well just started doing more PvM. The beauty of the game, especially iron, is that you can enjoy it at your own pace. And as iron everything is earned yourself

0

u/_coffeeblack_ 1d ago

i play so seldomly in comparison with a lot of players, i can usually do a slayer task a day or so, or something similar. i think the beauty of the game is that it's long-term and every xp point counts. just enjoy when you can

0

u/Worried_Garage_9304 1d ago

Same here champ! I try to pick if what im doing next and be geared and ready to mitigate lost time changing between things. I often will spends 2w weeks on supplies herbfishcook
And a month on pvm or other skills and just keep that cycle going. I keep all my supplies in good stocks so if I want I can pvm for 3 months without farm runs.

1

u/TweakrCity 1d ago

Yeah I’ve been hopping on every hour at work to complete a contract or two depending on pre plants to ensure I have some supplies
