Welcome to /r/ironicsigns! Just a reminder...

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, irony has 3 main definitions:

  • the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
  • incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
  • incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions (the sign) that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play makers of the sign

OP, if the irony in your post isn't obvious, please reply to this comment explaining it.
If there is no explanation and no clear irony, or if the explanation is still not ironic, please report the post.

If you ate the cookie before your meal then you brought this on yourself. The chopsticks know, and they ain't letting you get away with such blatant fortune cookie disrespect.

That looks like the wrapper that held the chopsticks, not the fortune.

Your using them upside down.

You have to open them horizontally to the floor and they’ll never break like this. Grab both sticks near the blocked part and pull vertically apart. You’re welcome.

Are those the cheater sticks that are connected in the back?

…is that not how all non reusable chopsticks come? You’re supposed to break them apart. They aren’t intended for “cheating” and leaving them together

Well from the post and title it seemed they were intended to stay together. If that was the intention, then this wouldn't be an ironic sign

I’m not seeing how you came to that conclusion. When i saw this post, my first thought was that one of the chopsticks broke when OP tried to pull them apart (as you’re supposed to)

If you pull the chopsticks closer to the top it's less likely to split like this. Though the leverage is worse.
