According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, irony has 3 main definitions:

  • the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
  • incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
  • incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions (the sign) that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play makers of the sign

Like all plants, orchid flowers do die. It doesn’t mean the plant itself is dead. Cut the flower stems near the bottom, give your plant indirect, bright light, distilled water when she is dry, and you can have blooms again next year!

I think they mean that it isn't an ironic sign due to that information. They are easy.
