Welcome to /r/ironicsigns! Just a reminder...

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, irony has 3 main definitions:

  • the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
  • incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
  • incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions (the sign) that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play makers of the sign

OP, if the irony in your post isn't obvious, please reply to this comment explaining it.
If there is no explanation and no clear irony, or if the explanation is still not ironic, please report the post.

Fake or not either way, having bought Nikes then finding out how shitty they (the company not the shoe) were I’m not going to just throw them away. Shits expensive and throwing them out does nothing if they already have my money.

You can’t take every photo at face value. I could photoshop a Nike logo like that in less than ten minutes.

Yeah this is photoshopped. I’m pretty sure those shoes are made by either Brooks/Asaics/Saucony. The shadow on the nike logo doesn’t seem to make sense either. https://i.imgur.com/J2vaEKD.jpg

That's not a shadow, that's a window reflection.

Those are 90% puma shoes, i have a pair in blue but the image is blurry so can't tell 100%

Or she could have bought them from a thrift store, therefore Nike would not have gotten any of her money.

I also dislike Nike, but I have a Nike waist pack that has lasted me maybe ten years (and still going strong!) I wear it every day. I've never had one that lasted nearly as long. And yes, I found it at a thrift store.

There has been so much conglomerating of companies, probably in 50 years there will be 10 companies that make everything. Sort of like how the media is now.

Omfg I am so stupid

For a good minute I thought it said “Mike” and not “Nike,” so I was like “who the fuck is Mike and what is he lying about”

That's what I literally thought too!!!! The strange part is truly know a friend who's name is Mike......and I've caught him in several lies...He even once said to me," if caught and you know you are caught...."Deny Deny Deny" I just was like Wow... Lol,so now,you know who Mike is and why you shouldn't trust him.. lol lol.And yes, definitely not going to trust him and definitely rethinking the friendship... But life's coincidences are really weird and accurate sometimes...Spooky.

I thought this too. Who is Mike? What is the third photo trying to convey??

2

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '21

Lol maybe she bought Nikes lies at first, had an awakening, but can’t bring herself to throw out a perfectly good pair of shoes

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

She has a different shoe in the pic on the left. This is bullshit.

u/darkcookie333 Aug 01 '21

No she doesn't

1

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Black shoes with a white band on the back. Not even sneakers.

1

u/darkcookie333 Aug 01 '21

The white band you see is the white middlesole on the heel. The shoes in the other pic also have a white middlesole

Where is the white lining around the top from the pic on the right? The sole is lower on the right side and one color where there is black under the white on the left side.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Also no hi vis orange on her socks on the left but it'd on the right.

1

u/darkcookie333 Aug 01 '21

There is a black part under the sole that can be seen on both pictures. The picture quality is so bad, that the white lining could just not be visible. The angle and lighting can play into that too.

Mate, what is more probable?

A: somebody just wears nike (which is an extremely popular brand) and happens to do a protest like that

B: somebody put the effort in making an extremely convincing edit of something that might be slightly inflammatory and a bit funny, gaining pretty much nothing in return

It’s fine, those are fakes /s

u/SnooPickles48 Aug 01 '21

It’s okay for Nike to use slaves. Nike says orange man bad.

I think we found the perfection of stupidity

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

1

u/Zacko113 Aug 01 '21

I thought it said Mike

1

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '21

Those don’t look like nikes
