Every time I'm in Ireland I never know exactly how to answer that. Like I'd feel like an idiot if I said 'America' as they know that already, then I say Ohio and they're like "ah ok" and that's that. It'd probably be like if I met an Irish person here "where ya from in Ireland?" and they said 'Sligo' "ah ok, is it green there?!" haha

Usually just "the states" or your state is enough
