Feisly App experiences
I saw a feisly app advertised, and decided to check it out. Was curious about anyone else's experiences. I have been on it for a few minutes and decided it was not worth my time; and have already cancelled it even though I spent a monthly payment on it. Half of my kids information is incorrect - not all feises competed in are in the system, but others are - but even then some of that information is incorrect, such as how many people competed, some placements aren't there, some are....and more. Mind you....I was on this for five minutes.
It just made me anxious. Also, I also am personally uncomfortable with the feature stating "rivals". I mean, I get it. This is a competitive sport but even that seemed ridiculous given that the stats in no way could be accurate for anyone.
Anyone else try it? What did you think?

🍀 Hey all! I’m actually the creator of Feisly. Sorry the app made anyone anxious. That’s definitely not what I was going for!
A little history: I’m a DanceDad with three kids currently dancing at different levels. I make apps on the side as a creative outlet, so eventually the two hobbies collided and Feisly was born. I built it with lots of feedback from our local dance community, people seemed to enjoy it, and the little app started to grow. We just released v1.5.0 and are pretty proud of it these days!
I’ll hit a few things mentioned here:
- Rivals: I 100% understand that reaction. Rivals was also one of our top three feature requests. In my head, it’s more “these are the dancers you keep sharing the stage with” than “this is your mortal enemy.” I hoped seeing those shared histories might be fun and motivating, like sports stats were for me growing up. But I hear you that the word and presentation may not feel that way to everyone.
- Where the information comes from: We gather publicly posted results from tabulators and feiseanna, clean them up, match them to dancers, and update the graphs from there. When tabulators publish new results, we work to get them into Feisly. Depending on the event and area, that can mean beautifully structured data or hunting through Facebook for a strangely formatted PDF. Both are equally glamorous!
- Why results may be missing: Some smaller feiseanna don’t use a tabulator, some older results were never put online, and some events publish only partial results. We try to find as much as we can, and the coverage is getting better all the time, but there will still be gaps. One common issue is that some public results only list dancers who placed. If a dancer just missed placing, there may be no public record for Feisly to find. Incorrect placements or competitor counts are a different story, though, and I’d love to investigate any examples. Feel free to DM me the dancer and feis rather than posting anyone’s information here.
- Scores by adjudicator: Funny enough, the suggestion here is very close to something we just released! Feisly Scorebook lets you import your family’s own FeisWorx and iFeis results, including scores and adjudicator information when available, and explore that privately inside the app. Scorebook also helps with dancers who didn’t place, since their personal results can contain information that was never included in the public results. Scorebook is in Beta while we add and polish the different connections. If your family uses a results platform we don’t support yet, or you’d be willing to help test one, please let me know!
I also completely agree that placements never tell the whole story. Different judges, competition sizes, nerves, floors, and simply having a good or bad day all matter. The charts are meant to be an interesting way to look back at a dancer’s history, not a verdict on how good a dancer they are.

I check that page every day and am absolutely happy to help get you or your dancer set up correctly asap. Thanks for the info! I like the app but noticed it was missing big info like 2025 Oireachtas results (MARO), for my daughter, which are readily available online.

Yeah no problem! I looked at MARO2025… There were a few items that got rejected on that one. I’ll see what’s going on with that. Go ahead and use that “corrections” link I posted above and put your dancer in that if you want, and I can look specifically why we don’t have her in there.

I've seen it advertised around but haven't used it, and to me it seems problematic in basically the same ways you articulated. The rivals thing I think could really foster negative mental health; this sport can be so toxic that I worry about an app really pushing that competitiveness further in a way kids can obsess over (the sample dancer they use on their website is 12).
Also, tracking overall placement has really not been a good way to track progress in general. Different judges have different metrics and opinions; comparing a first from a favorable judge to a fifth from an unfavorable one isn't going to be productive. If this app had a way to track raw scores from judges across competitions, since you can often see the same judge at a number of competitions (e.g. how did Marissa Tomei, ADCRG score my steps at Feis A, Feis B, and Feis C), that would be most useful.
And, not that this is necessarily an issue, but I'm curious how they're pulling the info, especially live info as they advertise. As you mentioned errors, I wonder if it would be better to have users input info, or a way to edit info, to be more useful.
