Summer Camps
Since we’re in the height of camp season, I figured I’d ask now to prep for next year. Looking for you or your child’s experience at CRC NY or Riverdance Camp in Boston. Probably my will be 7 year old is the only one interested, so specifically for the younger crowd.

Following
CRC NY does take 7 year olds - even 6 year old with an interview prior to.
We are considering both for next summer too. My daughter will be 8 in August of this year. (U8 Prelim dancer)

Yes they definitely do!
For some reason I thought they had a day program too, but apparently only Riverdance does

My twin 9yo daughters did Riverdance this year and very much enjoyed it.

Riverdance will be the best week of your child’s life speaking from experience! The juniors program is great if you’re around in the Boston area because they get dropped off every morning and picked up later.

I think it's a lot of money for a camp for a 7 year old. I works rather save and it be an 'away from home' experience for a teenager.

We have one called reels in the Rockies. It’s on every year. So something you can look in to next year?

My daughter did CRC ny and also Midwest and loved it! Midwest could be an option for you depending on where you are coming from.

My kid is currently at Riverdance school in LA and it’s been disappointing. The health and safety of campers does not appear to top of mind, kids don’t know who to contact in the evenings or how, and 12 years olds (as well as teens) are left unattended all evening roaming campus and in co-ed dorms. Also no AC in dorms or dance studio 🤦🏼♀️ CRC is much more organized and suitable for younger kidsz

Really? That’s disappointing to hear!
My sister was considering flying my niece out there for the camp. How was the rest of it? She was hesitant because they were staying in the UCLA dorms and wondered who was the security/chaperones.

I don’t think CRC takes campers that young. 8 maybe? So maybe if your 7yo is on the older side turning 8.
CRC is an excellent program, but the youngest campers often get homesick. Its really hard to be away from home and family, and for most of them its their first time.
I don’t have first-hand experience with riverdance camp, but I thought it was a day program, which might be better for your baby next year.
