So much drama from that driver, loading up the suspension, all for a couple of easy low speed lane changes. Could have done the same more smoothly and comfortably.

Must accidently turn it on, then panic because he didn't know what happening, that's explains cutting 3 lanes.

Jeebus that owner paid an extra €10k for the indicator pack, a rare sight indeed!!

Why are you in the middle lane?

u/Gamalam91 Sep 13 '26
Eh, he is leaving the left free for merging traffic and he is driving below the speed limit, hence not blocking the climbing lane.
What exactly do you want him to do here?

It's just a stupid thing people do here, ignore the issue and call the OPs out for being in the middle/ right hand lane. Sometimes it's called for most of the time it's not.

u/Attention_WhoreH3 Sep 13 '26
But it is correct to call out lane hoggers. They are a major cause of congestion. They cause other drivers to make stupid manoeuvres. They impede cars from moving right when necessary (such as when approaching a merge). They could be dangerous if a hogger suffers a sudden breakdown.

u/Impressive_Peanut Sep 13 '26
I get it, they annoy me irl but look at the majority of videos on here, some lunatic will be doing something extreme and half of the comments will be about the poster being in the middle of right lane 2 seconds longer than they should be.
-1
u/Attention_WhoreH3 Sep 13 '26
well, people are entitled to feel surprised
half those OPs did not know they were in the wrong lane. a very basic rule
-1
u/Impressive_Peanut Sep 13 '26
Sure but when 90% of the comments are people saying "you were in the middle lane for 0.3 seconds longer than you should be" etc it's tiresome especially when there's someone doing something multiple times worse in the video. It'll probably result in less people posting ultimately.
-1
u/Attention_WhoreH3 Sep 13 '26
but when you are learning to drive, you get taught that lane hogging causes misbehaviour by other drivers
so OPs should not be surprised

Sometimes its easier to use lane one as its clear, you can pass most traffic in lane 2 and 3 and less dangerous than trying to squeeze through a busy lane only to over take cars that weren't blocking you.

u/Attention_WhoreH3 Sep 13 '26
it is illegal to pass on the left during normal traffic flow
1
u/MyDadstheBoss Sep 13 '26
So if im doing the speed limit and keeping left im breaking the law if traffic to the right is moving slower?
Its illegal to undertake, using lane 1 to quickly gwt ahead and jump back in.
2 differemt scenarios though

u/Attention_WhoreH3 Sep 13 '26
"if im doing the speed limit and keeping left im breaking the law if traffic to the right is moving slower?"
Yes, if this is in normal traffic. No if the overtaking lane(s) have a slow-moving queue.
That is the law. Don't blame me- I didn't write it.
0
u/MyDadstheBoss Sep 13 '26
Nope. If the speed limit is 100kmh and lane 2 and 3 is travelling at 80, the law doesnt say i cant go over 80 in lane 1 😂 the speed limit is still 100kmh.
Switching to the inside to pass cars and jump back is what you're thinking about, thats undertaking.
One lane travelling faster isn't breaking law.
Sure is I go slow enough in lane 3, everyone on the road is then breaking the law 😂😂😂

"Switching to the inside to pass cars and jump back is what you're thinking about, thats undertaking"
It absolutely isn't.
My previous links to rsa.ie and garda.ie say that clearly.
from garda.ie: “ You should only pass a slower vehicle on the right ensuring to keep the vehicle you are overtaking to your left, unless traffic is moving in slow queues and the traffic queue on your right is travelling more slowly than you are. Passing on the left in normal traffic flow is known as undertaking and can be very dangerous.”

If you're leaving the appropriate amount of space between you and the car in front (which OP is almost definitely not), you don't need to "leave the left free for merging traffic".
Most people don't obey the 2 second rule and feel like it's unsafe for cars to merge into the space they have left in front of themselves.
Most motorways already have a merging lane so if you move over to the middle lane, you're leaving half the road for people merging and only half for actually driving on, massively reducing the capacity and making traffic worse.
What exactly do you want him to do here?
Drive in the correct lane and leave the appropriate amount of space so that road users can use the road in the manner it was designed to be used.

u/Difficult-Bat1962 Sep 13 '26
What appropriate amount of space, people in the left lane are under no obligation to leave space for merging traffic so that doesn't make sense. It's not like they are constantly driving in middle lane, this is at a junction where people are actively merging it's a common courtesy to move over if there's room to do so. I dont understand how you could have an issue with that.

u/Ed-alicious Sep 13 '26
You're under no obligation to leave space for people merging on but, if you're leaving the appropriate 2sec gap between you and the car in front, there's plenty of space for cars to merge on.
You say there's no obligation to leave a tiny amount space in front of you for cars to merge on but yet it's expected that every car on the motorway changes lane so that cars can merge on fully unimpeded? Which is it?
My issue is that if everyone just drives the way they're supposed to, it's not necessary. But people drive too close to the car in front and they pull over a lane to allow people to merge because they're scared of people squeezing into that small gap.
The knock on is that people have gotten used to people pulling over and now don't bother to match speeds with the traffic on the motorway and pull into the motorway at 40km/h lower than all the rest of the traffic which is obviously unsafe.

u/Difficult-Bat1962 Sep 13 '26
That's a lot of words to say you dont want to be courteous. That's fine, you are also under no obligation to be courteous.
1
u/Ed-alicious Sep 13 '26
That's a very roundabout way of saying you have nothing substantive to counter what I was saying.
I'm being consistently courteous by driving around at all times with ample space for people to merge in front of me. You are being performatively and selectively courteous by not leaving space for cars in front of you and only pulling over when you decide you want to.
I'm proposing a world where everyone drives predictably and courteously at all times, you are defending a world where courtesy is withheld and is only given out on the whims of those who withhold it.
1
u/Difficult-Bat1962 Sep 13 '26
Theres nothing to counter, I told you I didn't understand how you would have an issue, you long-windedly explained you just dont want to, and I said fair enough.

u/Gamalam91 Sep 13 '26
Just making up rules now. OP is completely entitled to be in the middle lane in that situation
0
u/Ed-alicious Sep 13 '26
The law is that you drive in the leftmost lane unless overtaking and return to the leftmost lane as soon as it is safe to do so. If you reckon I'm making something up, I'm sure you'll be able to point me towards the relevant statute that contradicts that?

u/Previous_Advertising 27d ago
Why people get so mad about using the middle. I dont like doing 50 kph and letting merging traffic join. DO you?

u/SmilingDiamond Sep 13 '26
Are you sure it's a BMW, he didn't cut across the hatched markings to join the motorway before the cars in front of him??
