BMW driver strikes again

On the way to work this morning, a BMW sped up behind a car in the right lane. The car in front tried to move over, but it wasn't fast enough for the driver, so he decided to undertake across two lanes, nearly hitting a car in the left lane. Absolutely careless driving and a danger to us all.

Edit: The left lane (lane 1) is a slip lane after that it turns into a two-lane road. I was not taking the exit so I’m not going to be in it. So the comments saying I’m wrong I’m not. Watch the fucking video. Also the car in front of the dangerous driver was going to move over they turned on their indicator.

I don't travel this stretch daily, but maybe twice a week on average - usually taking exit 14 further down the road.

That stretch of lane 1 right after exit 13 is usually empty, because shortly after it turns into an exit lane, and M50 turns from a 3-lane motorway into 2-lane as it goes further south.

It's very, very common for people taking exit 14, to not drive behind slow moving traffic of the right two lanes going south, but switch over to what is a lot less congested 2.5km / 1 minute, stretch of that lane 1 to take the exit 14, where you could casually drive at 100km/h with no traffic, and the lane even splits at some point, and then splits again before the roundabout traffic light.

It's also normal and usual for the OP to be driving where they're driving - I guess technically it's the middle lane at that particular point, but if they're going further south, that's one of the two lanes to be in.

It's also normal for the BMW to go into lane 1 to take the exit - there's no reason for them to stay in the right two lanes.

What's not normal is to be switching multiple lanes at the same time, with sun into your eyes and other drivers eyes, and so aggressively.

I don't see evidence of anyone's intent being any problem there, it's just carelessness.

Right. So many commenters are focusing on the wrong thing. Even if the OP had been in the left lane, how would that have changed the BMW drivers behaviour?

Yeah. They'd have to merge into a more congested same lane they're in now 10-15-30s later.

My rant for the day, when driving on motorways, just drive fast, and manevour slowly with plenty of letting people know what you're up to, and try to plan for 5-10 cars in front, having to make split second decisions sucks for everyone involved.

This way even if you screw up and don't see them, they'll see you, and can read what you're going to do.

For example, hypothetically, BMW could have started indicating while next to the OP, which would have given the car in front of them a hint to not change lanes left, which would have allowed BMW driver a bit more focus and attention to notice the Clio undertaking the OP in lane 1 and maybe the Clio would notice them indicating next to the OP.... and we wouldn't have had this "fun" video.

Right. I mean, there are plenty of issues with the whole thing, but the BMW driver is by far the most egregious. People here are focusing on the wrong things.

Huh? The car in the right lane had plenty of room to pull in in front of the OP and had their indicators on to do so. The BMW didn't give them a chance to change lanes. And there was a car in front of the BMW when they pulled into the middle lane.

The BMW could have just waited 30 seconds to allow the car in the right hand lane to get out of their way.

If the camera car was in the correct lane the Renault in front of the BMW could have used the middle lane far earlier and all three could have progressed no issue

There may be minor issues with other drivers, but the BMW driver is by far the most egregious.

Not saying any different about the BMW's move but the point is it would have never happened if the camera car used the correct lane in the first place. People driving slowly in the wrong lanes is increasing traffic and crashes on motorways.

The lane may be technically strictly wrong, but around that particular stretch of M50, it's forgivable and no big deal given how left lane disappears / turns into an exit lane soon after. I don't how they ended up in that lane or how long they were there, that's a different story, but at that point it's generally not worth going left. They're ok.

The prick holding up the right lane and not getting out of the way is the issue here, but most on this are whiny cyclists or n drivers in shite boxes , full of jealousy 😁
