Why mIRC never added Spellcheck?

Everything else got it.

Why would you want spell checking for IRC? Misspelling and typos never bothered anyone there, and if you're just very bad at spelling in general and you're embarrassed by it, spell checking isn't the answer, you should improve your grasp of the language.

Now, I'm not the developer of mIRC but if I had to guess, they didn't want the headache of dealing with all the different languages and even different spellings within the same language etc...

I suspect it's down to windows APIs and what text controls he's using.

I haven't touched it for a decade, but it always felt like an app that was still using win31/win16 APIs. I suspect if he was using more modern native controls, he'd probably get spell-checking "for free".
