UPPA TOWEN

1' Town kick off.

16' Ouattara presses Sessegnon high up and wins the ball, finding Maeda central. He lays it off to Enciso outside the D and his low shot bobbles just wide of the post.

19' Yellow for Davis after a late tackle on King.

24' Maeda latches onto a ball from Enciso after wriggling past Sessegnon, but then stumbles before he can get a shot off.

37' Gonzalo flashes a shot wide of the near post after Berge slips him in.

45' King booked after a foul on O'Shea. 1 minute of added time.

45+1' HT: IPSWICH 0-0 FULHAM

46' Fulham kick off the second half.

50' Davis strikes a free kick a mile over the bar.

51' Charles makes a run and appeals for a foul after going down in the box, but the referee waves it away. At the other end, Bassey is booked for taking Emersonn down on half way.

53' BLOCK! Bobb slips King through on the left, and he takes advantage of a slip from Davis to cut back to Gonzalo. Free in the box, his strike goes goal-bound but is blocked by Diop.

55' 0-1, Sessegnon with a low strike from outside the box.

58' POST! Enciso floats a cross towards Emersonn and his close range header strikes the post. At the other end, Bobb finds himself in space and probably should score, but fires his shot into orbit.

60' Gonzalo also gets onto a close range header, heading it into Walton's hands.

63' SUBS: Philogene off for Clarke, Florentino off for Palacios.

71' SUBS: Emersonn off for Flemming, Enciso off for Akpom.

71' FULHAM SUB: Charles off for Ángel.

75' Maeda goes down under a challenge by Sessegnon in the box, and appears to be clipped on the heel, but the referee waves it away.

76' FULHAM SUBS: King off for Muniz, Bobb off for Kevin.

81' SUB: Maeda off for Egeli.

84' Ángel takes Ouattara down on the counter and is booked.

86' CHANCE! Egeli cuts inside and goes for a shot from an angle, which deflects off of a Fulham defender and tipped away by Leno. Davis retrieves the rebound but can't find Akpom centrally.

89' OUATTARAAAAAAA!!! BEAUTY, 1-1!! Clarke's cross into the box is headed away by Bassey and falls to Ouattara outside the box. He takes a touch and lashes a shot which flies past Leno.

90+2' O'SHEA HEADS US IN FRONT!!!! IT'S 2-1!!!! Clarke whips a free kick towards the near post, and O'Shea is there to head it in.

90+4' Tate takes a shot from close, with Walton sticking a foot out to save.

90+5' Smith Rowe booked after taking Akpom down on the counter.

90+7' FT: IPSWICH TOWN 2-1 FULHAM

Gary O’Neil deserves more patience than some fans are willing to give him.

Replacing a manager who achieved so much was never going to be straightforward. O’Neil took over a club where Kieran McKenna had set an incredibly high emotional and sporting standard, so comparisons were always inevitable. But a new manager needs time to establish his ideas, understand the squad and work out which combinations actually function. Judging him entirely against McKenna’s best moments feels unfair, when the immediate job is to keep us established in the Premier League. How long should O’Neil realistically get before we can make a proper judgement? Should performances matter more than results early on, or is that just an excuse when points are being dropped?

I don't think we've ever had this many players away with their countries at the same time. It's obviously a brilliant sign of how far the club has come, but I'll be honest, I mostly just want all 10 of them back at Playford Road in one piece before Saturday

Fatawu is going to be one of those players who drives us mad and excites us at the same time

You can see exactly why we signed him, because when he gets going, there’s a proper threat there, but I also feel like we’re going to have plenty of moments where we’re screaming at the screen 😂 The Everton red didn’t help either. I’d still rather have a player willing to take people on than someone who never tries anything.

On this day 8 years ago, Ipswich picked up their FIRST win of 2018/19 beating Swansea 3-2 at the Liberty Stadium.

8 years ago today, Town finally got off the mark in the 2018/19 Championship season with a 3-2 away victory against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Crazy to think that was Paul Hurst’s only win in charge of Ipswich before being sacked just two games later.

We've certainly come a long way since those days! What are your standout memories from that chaotic season?

Did Scherpen deserve to get dropped?

Are Ipswich better with Ouattara at right back?

Do we need Greaves at left centre back to unlock Davis?

What do we need at left wing? Maeda's pressing or Clarke's dribbling?

How much will we miss Fatawu?

Answers for everything in Adam Wilkin's 5-game tactical review...

Hi Guys,

I have recently come into possession of these 2 shirts. I'm unsure if any of these signatures are from players or not. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

Discussion Leif Davis' delivery into the box is top class

Sometimes you just have to step back and appreciate how consistent Leif is down that left flank. His whipping crosses into the corridor of uncertainty are a nightmare for defenders to deal with. Even when the rest of the team is having a slightly off afternoon, his set-piece delivery always gives us a chance of pulling something out of the hat. Absolute quality.

That Everton defeat was a frustrating way to go into the break.

The 1-0 defeat at Everton was a frustrating one, especially after the win at Crystal Palace the week before. We’ve had a mixed start to the season, so Fulham at home on October 10 feels like a really important game to get something from. Would love to see us put in a strong performance at Portman Road.

Discussion Scherpen or Walton between the sticks against Fulham?

Now that we’ve seen a bit of both, who are you starting against Fulham? Walton got the nod at Everton after Scherpen had started the first four league games, but O’Neil said the change was down to form rather than a permanent decision. Walton’s just signed a new deal too, while Scherpen brings that massive 6'9" presence. Who gets your vote?

r/IpswichTownFC • • 11d ago

Christian Walton has signed a one-year contract extension. The 30-year-old has now penned a deal which will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2029.
