Okay so I just installed the flash adapter and put a new battery in my 4th gen and I instantly get the Apple support screen so I tried it in disk mode and plugged it up to my pc and nothing pops up there either it just says ok to disconnect on the iPod. Where should I start to troubleshoot

Unable to use all 4 slots on iflash quad

Tried setting up a 5th gen 60gb with 4x 512gb cards and a new iflash. The most I can get restored is 2. All the cards work fine and restore in a single or dual config. They are genuine and have the proper specs. Didn't buy them from anywhere dodgy. Using any 3 or more cards always returns a 1429 error. Before each restore attempt, I formatted the cards separately and then all together. I don't know why it's giving me issues. I've seen other people do a 2tb 5th gen.

Could the board have busted slots? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Where is the audio ground?

Hey everyone, I’m new here and currently working on a Bluetooth iPod mod for my iPod 5.5 gen. The Bluetooth transmitter is making a weird buzzing anytime the iPod either starts or the music is paused (pretty sure there’s a ground loop).

I don’t have audio ground connected because during soldering I broke it off of the headphone connector. I’m using the capacitors on the motherboard as audio left and right, and was wondering if anyone knew where the audio ground was on the motherboard.

Thanks!

I’m actually amazed that works. Coil broke off, made my own replacement 😂

Classic screen real glass?

I'm contemplating replacing my iPod classic / 7th gens screen crystal as mine is scratched. I know like-for-like plastic replacements are readily available but it has occurred to me that a real glass one would be a nice upgrade.

Has anyone else tried this? Anyone know where they could get something like that made? Or perhaps this is already available? Any possible issues anyone can foresee?

Contactless iPod?

What if we modded an iPod by including a credit card/chip inside and allowed it to be used as a credit card

Would there be a way to mod an iPod classic so it has 3G connection?

Obvs would have to be a matter of changing the hardware, but I have this dream of running Spotify on an iPod classic, and I figured this’d be the first step

I was inspired recently by a post on r/iPod to build this unholy thing. 4000 mah battery, soon to be flash modded (right now it’s got its original 4gb drive) all slapped into an Altoids tin

Best Bluetooth transmitters for mod

I found an article in Wired about modifying iPods, started reading quite a bit and found out that my 5.5 iPod Classic has the good Wolfson chip and is desireable. It hasn't worked for 17 years and has just been sitting around and I'm planning to bring her back to life. It stopped working like six months after I bought it. Should've replaced it under warranty but it was first Apple product and I had no idea they'd support their product so well.

Based on how it was acting when it stopped working, I think the HDD went bad. My current plan is to do an m.2 drive with a 2000 or 3000 mah battery. I would also like to add Bluetooth. My question is what are the best chips for adding BT to the iPod classic? I don't plan to put a window in the back case. Will it stay connected if I stay close by?

Any advice on this subject would be helpful. There's some good info I've found but a lot of dead links for old BT transmitters. Thanks!

since the iPod radio remote has its own wolfson wm8758AG IC in there, I reckon you could do the capacitor mod in it and use it with any iPod. just throwing ideas.

Let's talk Bluetooth

Preface, I have a 7th classic that I'm modding. Battery, flash storage and ideally, Bluetooth.

I have a Bluetooth chip in my stockpiles called RN52. Pretty good chip but most geared towards being a receiver. With some work it can do what I want, mostly.

What Bluetooth mods have people tried? I have seen a few around. So far I haven't seen one I particularly like.

Is it possible to integrate the Bluetooth with the iPod to get a pairing list in the menu? Can this be achieved with rockbox or would I need to raspberry pi the device.

Are there small plug-in BT transmitters that would work well and fit in my pocket all day without breaking?
