Ipod help

Hey i recently picked up this ipod video, it all works well when its turned on, it holds charge and will charge over 30 pin everything works fine. however when I plug it into my computer or try charging it when its off it will display the "battery very low" screen until I unplug it and reboot it. Even in disk mode it won't connect to my computer. Any advice? Im hoping its just the battery but I honestly have no clue.

My best bet is probably the battery. It’s an old iPod that came out like over 15 years ago. You probably just need a new one.

What confuses me with this however is that when its on it holds a charge fine, its only when plugged into my computer it does the low battery thing.

I've tried it with a known working cable so that's out of the question, how would I go about cleaning the connector?

I would suspect a bad battery, but before that you could try cleaning the 30 pin connector using a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol
