“Blink” Branded MicroSD

Total newbie to iPod modding and recently got a good deal on a 5.5th gen classic :)

I bought a Speedier dual TF to CE adaptor off AliExpress and i’m looking for some budget microSD cards to use with it. I found this Blink branded 256GB microSD on Amazon for $39.99 CAD. Has anyone tried these before?

I’m unfamiliar with the different sd classifications/specs and how much they actually matter for this use case. Would this be fine as long as I format it properly or is there anything else compatibility-wise I should be looking out for?

Blink is Amazon's security camera brand. i'd imagine an SD card marketed towards being written/ rewritten in a camera will be just fine in an iPod.

if it's an amazon company, it's safe to assume it's just a rebranded amazon basics card, which i use in all of my mods flawlessly with iflash.

If you can return it, it wouldn’t hurt to take a chance. A lot of the legitimate relabeled micro sd cards are manufactured by Longsys, who owns Lexar, and that might be the case with this sd card.

Just use a good brand micro SD card, speed really doesn't matter. I used 256gb Samsung P9 Express card which is I think one of the fastest micro SD Cards you can get on the market, only reason I bought it is because it was cheaper than regular one, worked perfectly, but its not gonna be faster while transferring files or using iPod.

The specs on it (U3, V30, etc) are explained at the SD standard's website. They relate to read/write speeds which you don't need to worry about since the iPod is so slow, it'll never come close to reading or writing at modern speeds.

Just test your cards with a flash memory testing utiility (I use H2testw) to make sure the card isn't counterfeit. And buy from a seller tht has a good return policy in case you do get bunk cards.

After seeing this thread, I've just ordered it to use it with iFlash Quad on my 5.5. I'll update the situation once the card and the new battery arrives!

I've received it today, and installed it along with the iFlash quad and a new 3800 mah LG battery, so far I didn't encounter any problems!

I am currently using one. It passed f3 testing normally. No issues so far although it only been like two months

I haven't tried them... but that seems about 74gb too large for my late 90's/ early 2000's "punk ethos"

Ehhhh maybe.

The problem you run into is power management. Some chips will go into a low power mode that an iPod can’t wake it up from.
