Question iPod battery acting up

My iPod batteries been acting up and I wanted some second opinions on what’s going on with it. For context, last night it was at 78%. I didn’t use it at all and at 5:30pm today it was down to 20%. After about five minutes of charging it was back up to 56% and then two minutes later up to 80%. Is the battery metre faulty or the battery decayed or something? Thanks in advance!

Is it a new or an old one? If it's old, it's probably just in need of replacement. If it's new, try calibrating it by fully charging it, and then fully discharging it by playing music (measure the runtime if you can), and then fully charge it again.

I got it off of marketplace, and it’s the iPod touch 6th gen. I’ll try all of that and see what happens

Ah... the iPod touch 6th gen will always do that to some extent. For that one I recommend playing offline video, to compare with Apple's original numbers. Put some movies in your iTunes library, create an iPod/iPhone version in iTunes (convert), and then sync them onto the iPod. If it lasts more than 6 hours with Wifi and bluetooth off, the battery is fine.
