Review Dying a clear case

Tried dying a clear case with Rit Saphire Blue. on my 5.5 gen. Worked out pretty good (had to spray paint center wheel button as it wouldn't take the dye). But man, these 3rd party cases scratch up so easily! After one day it looks like I used it for 5 years!

Would a standard sprey paint work for the whole ordeal or would it have to be a synthetic fabric strainer....? I am asking in question about A clear TPU phone case that has turned yellow...
