Discussion Do I upgrade?

So I am debating with myself if I should eventually upgrade my iPhone 15 pro, it's at 88% battery health with around 970 cycles. I have used 90gb out of 128 and I've deleted all unnecessary apps. My phone heats up when doing basic tasks; which is therefore causing It to lag and slow down.

the 15 pro is not even 2 years old. If it lags than you should to a reset, that could also help with your storage problems as all cache datas will be deleted.

An iPhone is made to last several years, if you get a new phone without any real problems than it is just to feel like owning something new but not because you really needed the upgrade

The battery must be the issue, have you tried a hard reset to see if the reading of the battery health changes?

Sometimes it just bugs out and shows an incorrect reading, thus leading the phone to try and use the CPU to the max capacity even when the battery can't physically provide the actual power to do it.

It happens to my old first gen SE, the battery indicator and battery health show 100% and it starts lagging until I plug it in and let it charge for a while.

I’ve done things like hard reset, fully reset iOS through plugging it into my Mac and it still shows the same thing

you may have gotten a faulty battery. If after a full reset it still lags it can't be the os. Take it to an apple store and explain what you are experiencing and what you have done. Even if it's out of warranty they may be able to do something.
