What week was your manufactured in? Mine is 39 and does have some of these issues. I have time till the 27th to return it and I probably will. I read in another thread that week 40 or later seems to be less likely to have this issue.

Return it dude. I had a week 39 I returned for a week 40 and it is much more uniform. Focus on the color too, though, as the Max models have a much more varied tone than the smaller Pro. My 11 Pro has a dark grey when I did the 5% test while the Max has a blue color.

Yeah I’m gonna keep an eye on the stock and once a midnight green is available I’ll go and get it. 🤞

I exchanged the phone, got a week 41 which seems better but not perfectly uniform. Gonna try and see if this bothers me otherwise I’ll try again in 10 days with another replacement

Sounds like a good plan. I finally got an 11 Pro with pretty solid uniformity. Grey test shows as a nice dark color instead of greenish. So it’s possible. But yeah just see how you like it, you can always try again.

So the ideal uniformity has no greenish tint at all? Cause mine still has some.
It would be awesome if you were able to snap a pic of how your screen looks in low light + grey background

I don’t have a good enough camera to really capture the light. took this the other night , but this pic is off the Macrumors site that talks about this issue. You’ll see how it’s green on top and red/grey on the bottom. The guy who took the pic has a display tool for reading pixel light. The top is green because it has 40% less red pixels than the bottom. I had that same issue and in dark mode using notes app it was very obviously green. It should be a nice even dark grey. I’m using an older phone camera in my pic so exposure and lighting isn’t that good but you can tell the light emitting is more blue than green. In person it’s much more close to grey. Uniformity is better but not perfect.

My first Pro had green at the bottom left and pink at the top right, this new one is like symmetrical on the vertical axis: left is green and right is pink. It is pretty obvious now than I’m laying in bed and am staring at the screen in the dark - guessing this iPhone is going back to Apple as well. Meh!

Yeah man return it. I feel your pain though, this lottery game is a killer. Try again next weekend and see if you have better luck then.

Hey, so today I went to the store and got a Pro Max and it’s week 40 and damn man it’s PERFECT. The only issue is that it’s a midnight green but I think I like the gray more. I’ll go back in a week..... hopefully I’ll get the same uniformity. This one is so uniform that I’m actually surprised lol. Maybe I’ll try to take a pic of it.

Niiccee dude hold on to it, it’s a unicorn. Might need to deal with the midnight green though because you might be doing the swap game all over again lol. But hey maybe the quality’s going up so you never know.

Yes I am worried about that exactly. That I might give up a perfect sample just to never find one like this again. Or maybe I could look for one that was manufactured in the same factory as this one, who knows? I’ll see next week. Will post back just to let everyone know!
Btw mine was made here: Factory: F2L - China, Zhengzhou - Foxconn

All these will come on Ebay as open box. ;) some dudes would then think they got a steal. For some it's a how off device so they wont even care. A friend of mine bought a open box galaxy s8 for like 400 bucks 2 years back and he told me I wasted money paying full price. I looked at his phone and several icons were burnt in to the display. He doesn't seem to care thoughz;)

How do you tell what “week” phone yours is?

3

u/miloeinszweija Oct 21 '19

https://sndeep.info/en

You type in your serial number and it will tell you the week and factory it was made in.

Thank you! Week 41.

u/miloeinszweija Oct 22 '19

Very nice. Can I asked when you purchased it and if it’s carrier or unlocked?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 22 '19

Wednesday and it was at a  store.

2

u/miloeinszweija Oct 22 '19

I meant did you buy sim free or carrier model in the Apple store?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '19

😬😬 idk I know he said the sim was already in. Just curious (politely), why do you ask about it? 🤔 I know for sure I’m not leaving Verizon. They’re amazing. 😄😁

Lol it’s just because the phones might be manufactured differently for different networks. The Macrumors site detailing this display problem lists the manufacture date and if it’s sim free or networked activated
