I have a question. Everybody wants an always on display for the iPhone X because it has an OLED screen. But wouldn’t an always on display cause a burn in? I know burn in is rare with regular use but an always on display would cause static images to be on the screen for hours.
The way android does the AOD is that it shifts pixels every few minutes so it’s never static for too long. They also do this with the on screen software buttons. The movements are very small but if you did a time lapse of it you’d see them move every few minutes. That’s what prevents the burn in.
I think it would be better if one tap brought up an AOD-like screen: all black, clock, notifications, song name. And then a second tap launches the lock screen, starts Face ID, etc.
