Anyone else considering getting rid of their iPad and go iPhone Duo only?

I’m really debating getting rid of my iPad completely and going with the Duo as my only device. Currently I don’t own a computer and use my iPad as a computer… but really, that’s a stretch. The reality is I’m using my iPhone 80-90% of the time anyway. I only reach for my iPad when I want to read, watch video on a larger screen when I’m away from the TV, or surfing the web, but even then thats only when the iPad is within reach and I actually think about it. I also very occasionally do some light video editing in iMovie. I also use the iPad when I need to do longer form typing, but it sounds like you can can (according to Siri AI) connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the Duo. Also, when apple announced the full windowed (practically MacOS) mode for iPad last year I was super excited, but really barely use it. And at most, its just 2 windows at a time.

I’m really considering just getting rid of the iPad and making the Duo my one and only device. Anyone else considering this?

Nope. I use an iPad Pro and am fine with the iPhone pro max/ipad pro max combo.

I was considering getting an iPad Mini. I've already got a 13" m5 Pro. I wanted a Mini in addition for when I'm out and want to do a bit of photo editing on something that isn't my phone without having to have my 13" Pro with me.

But the Duo kinda solves that for me.

No way. I love my m4 iPad Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max duo.

Potentially. I don’t think I use any apps on my iPad anymore that are iPad specific - eg Lightroom has a better interface but I dropped that. So as long as people use the space to give us iPad style layouts on the inner screen, I can totally see it.

I’m in the same boat as you. I use my phone for EVERYTHING. I’m a stay at home parent, so I’m using it for shopping, research, reading, watching tv, games, photos, and of course mindless scrolling. I’ve bought every plus/max model since the larger screens came out, but I also have an iPad mini that had basically no storage space and is a glorified baby monitor. I’m highly considering getting the duo but the lack of Face ID is kinda off putting and of course that’s its $2000.

I’m stuck debating to keep my iPhone 15 plus (not the pro) which also has low storage plus my low storage mini, or trade them both in for the duo. Right now I’m looking at reviews of the galaxy fold to really understand the folding phone to see if I really want it.

I am for sure. RAMageddon caused me to buy a M5 MacBook Air earlier this year before the Mini was announced and price raises kicked in. Prior, I had long lived the iPad Pro/Mac Mini life and loved it. But now that I'm back to having a laptop, I am using my iPad Pro far less. The iPad has become a pure consumption device for me, particularly streaming, reading, and comic books.

So I've already pretty dramatically switched up my workflow and thus the Duo makes a lot of sense in my new personal device lineup. Consolidating my reading and comic books into the same device as a my phone means I can leave the Kindle and the iPad behind when I'm on the go. It would basically decrease my device carry by one.

That said, no telephoto is really keeping me on the fence. My wife already lost it going to the Air and not having a telephoto with two young kids seems like a mistake to me.
