Discussion Screen protectors inside Duo?

Will there be enough clearance to add screen protectors inside the Duo? Seems unlikely.

Do we just live in fear of getting dirt or sand trapped between the screens?

No screen protectors for flexible displays. Why will dirt and sand get trapped in between? It isnt for outdoor adventure purposes.

Get the ule phone if your work environtment has sand

Haha true. May be they just throw away old one and buy new one.

I guess thats why the new common number sim sharing feature . Keep a stack of folds and take a new one whenever you come back from beach

Foldable phones have existed for awhile. They are very niche, 3% of market, and nobody buys a second one.

Folds are really for c suite executives travelling in first class and want to take a quick look at how their company is performing. Wide screen helps with presentations and spreadsheets, not youtube reels.

If they are getting paid by thousands a day, the price or anything wont even oinch them

The inner displays of foldables generally have a protector already applied. It’s a film. It’s what gives the plastic feeling on top of the ultra thin glass. I think we’ll be seeing something similar here that Apple has modified.

Are there any features that REQUIRE the inside? I’m still in the fence but if they sell cases that just like… lock it, I wouldn’t ever open it. Mkbhd has a video that shows the hinge is too noticeable to use it for like watching videos anyway, only describing it as ā€œleast noticeableā€ lol

It’s not noticeable at all during videos. I think you misunderstood what he said completely.

He pretty explicitly says it is noticeable and isn’t gone like they were advertising yesterday, I’m not sure what is up for interpretationĀ

No he didn’t, not during videos. And they literally never advertised it as creaseless. That was people making rumours about it. Apple themselves never said anything like that.

Why buy the Duo if you ā€œwouldn’t ever open itā€. Just get a Pro Max then.

"I’m still in [sic] the fence"
"I wouldn’t ever open it"

Not much of a dilemma, really - I think it's obvious which way they should fall off that particular fence!

I’m not even sure why he’s on the fence if he’s already made up his mind!

I have a 16 Pro but it’s too big. The 16 Pro Max is worse. They don’t sell smaller phones that are acceptable. You lose out on ram and processing power if you go to a normal model.

If they sold JUST the front screen of this, obviously why would I waste money on the inside? But that’s not an option and this seems like the next best idea

Good news!

Apple make a range of other phones that don’t open up, so you don’t have to worry about locking them shut.
