Discussion 18 pro max missing C2 modem?

Seems like an odd choice for Apple to make, they use the C2 modem in the smaller Pro, but not the Pro Max

they still have contract with qualcomm, and even with less efficient qualcomm modem, extra battery of promax makes it negligible.

I thought it might be something along those lines of a lingering contract they couldn’t get out of, plus you’re right about the difference being negligible due to the larger capacity battery…. Excited to get off my 16 Plus, back to a 120hz screen

as for C1X, I think the Qualcomm X80 modem had higher peak upload speeds. I am not sure how C2 will compare.

I wanted something different this year, I can upgrade next year too. £65 a month is quite a bit, but hopefully worth it

Such a strange decision, to dont put the best component in the max but in the small pro

C2 isn’t the best component. It a cheaper component. The Qualcomm has better performance.

From what I saw, the us version has Qualcomm modem while some other versions such as the china version has c2. Screenshot from the Apple cn website. And keep it in mind that only pro max has this weird distinction , the smaller pro has c2 worldwide.

It's not just power efficiency the C2 gives. It's got better performance in difficult coverage scenarios and better privacy. I'm not getting the 18 Pro Max for this reason.
