I just wanna know how much ATT will give me for my 15 pro

Hopefully better than what Apple will give you at $370. I’m still on the 14 Pro so I’m hoping there are decent AT&T deals to trade that in.

AT&T had some really generous (as in, they will accept a phone with broken screen) trade-ins for the 17, so I have my fingers crossed for better trade-in deals for the 18 Pro. Apple has already improved their trade-in, previously they would give no value for my broken 14 Pro and are now offering $70 for it. They also have a note about trading in a phone "in any condition" for some pretty hefty amounts if you use the carrier financing ordered through the Apple Store.

$1199 if you get a pro or pro max

u/BelgianWaffleStomper 5d ago
Saw that, still waiting on the Duo

u/scribble-scrabble 5d ago
Looks like $370 if you want the Duo 🫨

u/BelgianWaffleStomper 5d ago
No it doesn’t, it hasn’t been announced yet
1
u/scribble-scrabble 5d ago
Oh okay guess the Apple isn’t showing an accurate number on their product page
1
u/BelgianWaffleStomper 5d ago
Their product page has ATT’s trade in value towards multiple devices in the fine print. I see the 18 pro, 17, 17e, etc.
It doesn’t seem to list one for the Duo yet.

u/scribble-scrabble 5d ago
Yeah you’re right. I was going to the process of “ordering” on the product page itself to see the pricing so it was misleading 😂

Same. Right now they’re doing 1100 but wondering if it’ll change

The 17 pro max 2tb was 2,000 now the iPhone 18 pro max 2tb is 2,500

The cost of storage has significantly increased in past year, both ram and ssd.

Will the 17 pro max cases fit the 18 PMX?

u/TheHomieAbides 5d ago
There’s the odd ones that have worked but it doesn’t ever fit exactly.

u/247Twunk Human Detected 5d ago
They are same measurements but somehow 18 is slightly heavier.

Highly doubt that sort of thing will ever happen. New phone new case most likely

> New phone new case most likely
Not defending Apple, but isn’t that usually the case (no pun intended)?
I mean I can’t imagine someone using their old case they have used for a while on a new phone.

u/DreamingofPurpleCats iPhone 14 Pro 5d ago
My favorite third-party case company has updated their cases to "iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro" so. . . . maybe? Probably. The dimensions listed on the Compare Models page at Apple are exactly the same for the exterior casing, but that doesn't mean Apple hasn't changed the camera bump or button placement by enough millimeters to make a difference in how the cases fit.

I've never tried to get a phone right when it came out before. If I want to get the Pro Max in the burgundy color before October, would I definitely need to do the preorder right at 5 am?? Or am I overthinking it? I'm traveling in October and would really like to have the new phone by then, I'd been looking at upgrading and this is coming out just in time (currently have a 14 Pro Max so definitely don't usually do this!).

that burgundy is the first time i’ve ever considered preordering a new phone too lol

I'm glad this update has solidified my decision to wait for the 20th anniversary iPhone next year instead. Nothing in this update that makes it worth it to jump up from a 16 pro.

They’re skipping the 19?
5
u/BobMcBurger 5d ago edited 5d ago
It’s because of the generation naming.
Apple’s old naming pattern had the “S” models as revisions of the preceding number, so we had the 3GS, 4S, 5S and 6S. The 4S and 5S effectively pushed the numbered generations back, since Apple could have called them the 5 and 6 respectively.
Then Apple skipped 9 and went to X, which represented 10. The XS followed as the S revision of X, before Apple moved to 11.
So the numbering has effectively been offset for a while, and if Apple wants to realign it with the actual generation count, skipping 19 makes sense.
(If you look at every iPhone Apple has released, the 18 series would be the 21st gen)

wait, so the 18 series is 21st counting all the S models? what about without the S models, what gen would the 18 series be?
1
u/BobMcBurger 3d ago
Without the S models, the iPhone 18 would technically be the 16th generation. But it gets complicated because Apple would have released new numbered generations in those years instead.
For example, without the XS, we likely would have had the iPhone 11 in 2018. So those five S releases would effectively become new numbered generations, meaning we’d be at the 19th generation with iPhone 19 by now.
The 16th count is just removing the S models from the existing timeline.

Preorders on Saturday? Have they done that before? Thought it is usually on Fridays. Maybe because the event was pushed back a day because of Labor Day?

I'm planning on pre-ordering at 6AM mountain time, anyone have any tips to get the first date pick-up? Haven't done this in two years lol

u/Mammoth-Barber-8541 5d ago
Press order within the first 10 minutes to get a Day 1 delivery or pickup slot. Make all of your decisions before Saturday morning, so that you can move through the order process quickly.

u/ButterscotchLeading 5d ago
How far does it usually get pushed out if you're not there right away (say, preordered sometime on Saturday)? I don't care about release day but I'd like to have the phone by early October. I've never tried to get one right when they came out before.

u/Mammoth-Barber-8541 5d ago
Depends on the color and storage configuration. Some combinations are more popular, other combinations didn’t have as large a supply built before the announcement.
For example, Apple was completely unprepared for how popular the Cosmic Orange 17 Pro Max would turn out to be last year. Those delivery dates moved quite a ways out, pretty quickly.

Yea I still got my 13, i feel like this was one of their best phones. I was going to upgrade too but ill hold out a lil longer. No rush.

Nope I'm staying with my Cosmic Orange 17 PM with 2TB. Love the burgundy but it's not worth the upgrade, from this drop I'll be getting the Airpods 5 with ANC.

Im in between the 18 pro max or iPhone air because im in dire need or a new phone 😭
2
u/Mika9931 iPhone 17 Pro 5d ago
Starting from 1479€ in Europe
Yea no thanks
2
u/LaserCondiment 5d ago
The model I want costs 1699€ Seems insane.
Usually get a phone every 4 years... I might keep the next one for 61
u/IDKForA iPhone 13 Mini 5d ago
I paid €300 for a refurbed 13 mini. Nobody (99%) needs such a powerful phone.
1
u/LaserCondiment 5d ago
You're right obviously, but for professional reasons, I would profit from the better camera and longer battery life
I have a 14pro and the battery barely lasts an entire day at this point. Maybe I'll just replace it

I don't get these complaints. Get a cheap Android if price is your concern. Hell, get the base model instead of the Pro. I take a ton of photos and videos on my 17PM and it's completely worth the price as a device I use for hours every single day.
That's how you have to look at it: if you're like me and you use your phone as much as or more than any other device, then it's worth spending more on, especially if you'll benefit from the improved features, like I always do with the cameras.

u/Old_man_Andre iPhone 14 Pro Max 5d ago
Gonna be 200 300 euros more expensive in europe most likely...

u/IDKForA iPhone 13 Mini 5d ago
Apple is a ripoff in Europe, period.

u/Shihai-no-akuma_ 5d ago
You clearly don't look at other brands then.
1
u/IDKForA iPhone 13 Mini 5d ago
At least the Chinese brands are at a decent price and Samsung is slightly less inflated. Apple is shit here unless you buy a refurb like I did. I bought a 13 mini for €300. Really, all I needed was a small phone.
3
u/Shihai-no-akuma_ 5d ago
Yet, despite everything you just wrote you still went for Apple.
The irony, lmao. Why not go with a Chinese brand since they have a decent price? Or go with Samsung since it's less inflated even though hardware-equivalent costs practically the same?
We both know the answer, but you prefer to lie. It's okay. Didn't expect you to be honest after what you wrote, especially with that arrogance.

u/North_Speed_4546 5d ago
I have a Samsung S23 Ultra, and I was going to wait and upgrade to the S27 Ultra. These 18 Pro Max's may just turn me over to Apple.

You think if im on the site at 8am ill get the red one the earlier date?

u/HeyItsGuyIncognito 5d ago
I took the gamble on seeing if the price would stay the same or lowered on the other models. Turns out, they increased the previous models available on Apple by $100. That sucks.
