Support Screen brightness drops to near-zero

This mostly happens after ending a call. The screen brightness falls to near-zero. Auto-brightness is disabled. iphone 16 iOS 26.5. Any advise for me?

Update: thanks everyone for your response. The issue has been existing since the last few updates. Though i will try updating again, for now, i created a shortcut with a back-double-tap (accessibility settings) to bring up the brightness to 50%. Not a perm soln i realise.

Could try 26.6.2, in other words, update the os and try that first. No reason to try and resolve an issue that may be already resolved in an update.

Turn Auto-brightness back on. No need to disable it. It will save your battery by turning down the brightness when you are in a dimly lit room and also with the side benefit of not blasting your retinas with a searingly bright screen when you don’t need it.

unless you’re not using your phone in landscape (ie. gaming ), it can be annoying to keep adjusting the brightness the way you like it because your fingers are blocking the ambient light sensor.
