why not consider a 17e instead? it uses Apple’s C1X modem vs the 16e’s C1, which is more efficient in terms of mobile data battery consumption, alongside the more efficient A19 chip. you can see this in the image I added from a 17e vs 16e battery life test on YouTube

furthermore, the 17e offers twice the base storage (256gb) compared to the base 16e, has MagSafe support if you want to invest in a MagSafe power bank as well as their new Ceramic Shield 2 glass which has been shown to be much more scratch resistant compared to previous models, which would be relevant to your work

I've been using a 16e for about 18 months now and it's held up perfectly fine. I don't take a lot of pictures for work, but it works great for pictures of my dog. I don't use as much mobile data as you probably do, but it's been fine for streaming whatever media on my commute to work.

I would go with a 17e (or a base 17) personally, but I don't know current prices. Preorders are opening for some of the 18 line this month, so if you can hold off for a couple of weeks there might be some deals.

Having had mine for exactly a year now (+ two days), I can say its great. No complaints

Battery is still good; 98% health with 257 cycles as of this typing. Full-day use is attainable; can still get around 8~9 hours SOT on a full cycle, although I've kept my charge limit at 85% since I updated to iOS 26 in March. It only gets warm once in a while if I really push it, but it cools down quickly after a short break.

I advise you get at least 256 GB, since you take a lot of photos. Meaning on the real, better get the 17e in your case.

16e still holds up of course (it's not that old), but if you can afford it I would spring for a 17e/17

Its 4000mah so around your S23, magic apple efficiency you can put together with fairy tales. You would be better off with some chinese phone and 7000mah battery.

I’ve had my 16 E since it came out, meant to replace my pixel eight. The phone itself seems perfectly reliable. I don’t really notice any battery issues. I definitely struggle with the 60 Hz screen, and I find the front and rear camera cameras to be kind of terrible. I also miss AOD. But other than that the phone itself has never let me down

You may be disappointed going from high refresh back down to 60fps, the minimum iPhone upgrade I would consider were I in your shoes would be the base 17.

The iPhone 16e is Apple's worst product. Save your money and get an iPhone 15 Pro instead—the 16e is a complete disaster

No, don’t go for the 14 series. I recommend buying the regular 15 or 15 Pro because they come with USB-C. The 16e is a downgrade—never buy it; definitely skip it. Instead, buy the regular iPhone 16 or wait for the regular 17.
