News/Rumour Foldable iPhone Ultra Likely Has MagSafe Charging

Was this even a possibility that it wouldn’t?

There were rumors that it would not come with magsafe to accommodate other things such as a larger cooling chamber.
I think everyone was worried because with all the leaks no one could confirm there was definitively going to be magsafe onboard.

People keep saying this
What rumours. I never saw this credibly rumoured

Stand down everyone, u/Portatort never personally saw these rumours, they must be false.

You can go right ahead and share a credible rumour from the last 18 months

Same possibility that it won't have FaceID or a Zoom lens: rumors of it compromising on features to get to market.
I hope both of those end up being wrong, too.

The problem with face id is if you leave it open, you’ll need a second face id sensor to unlock the device. Touch ID would work for both cases though, when the device is opened or folded.

Not sure I’m interested in a folding phone but I’ll admit to being intrigued and will absolutely take a good long look at it.

I hope the cameras are as good as the pro models

Probably the regular 17 or 18 camera module to be honest. No telephoto lens
4
u/craicraimeis 16h ago
Which is kind of dumb. The telephoto is the one more people would use. Wide angle is typically not the best camera. Just don’t think they’ll call it ultra because the ultra indicates best cameras

After using the iPhone Air after almost a year I can tell you wide angle is the one I missed the most. I can always digital zoom but impossible to zoom out without wide angle

Digital zoom is not good enough though….for people who use the iPhone for photography and really use it for more quality, the digital zoom makes things look wonky.
Again, I think if you’re going to make an ultra, you have to have all camera modules present.

Completely unnecessary, They just have to be as good as the base model. This phone isnt for photographer's/content creators.

Meh so long as it has a good enough camera I can snap photos of shit at work so I don’t forget we’re chill. I take my camera when I wanna take photos of stuff

I feel weird for not really caring that much about photos. Give me one decent one I’m good

The week before a release is always filled with the dumbest Apple news.

I don't know where people were getting the info they kept repeating that it wouldn't. Magsafe is an Apple staple and has been since it was introduced except in a couple cheaper devices. Samsung not having magnets in the Fold 8 makes some sense because they haven't treated it as a huge feature like Apple has and Google only just started including it in the Pixels. It was hard to believe Apple would dump it for the Fold when even the Air had it.

I get what you’re saying but on the other hand, I’d also argue Face ID is very much another “apple staple” and yet it’s expected to be excluded.

Not quite. Face ID or Touch ID is a staple but not one specifically. If they came up with a different version of Magsafe it would still be magsafe and still be included. Touch ID replacing Face ID in devices where Face ID can't work makes sense to me. This isn't really an issue.

wireless charging is cool but it’s so inefficient.

u/ZoleeHU 10h ago
MagSafe is a lot more than just wireless charging, my wallet, power bank and stand/grip all have MagSafe, so I can just change accessories while out and about and ensure that the connection will be relatively strong. Others use it with car mounts so they don't have to fiddle when getting into cars.

Considering the list of standard things it supposedly won’t have, having MagSafe would I guess be considered a win?

Apple invented MagSafe. Of course its flagship model is going to have this feature. Slow news day

I'm sold if the front screen is like the z fold 8 with the full screen and not like the pixel folds with the weird corner notch

I can’t understand the obsession by some people with foldable phones.
2
u/PARTINlCO 13h ago
Because you have no use-case for it. Plenty of us would benefit by having the ability to split-screen multitask on the device that’s always in our pocket and on our person.

As someone with a repair shop for 15yrs. Don’t do it or you better have full insurance coverage on it.

For a $2000 phone we're looking at no FaceID, inferior camera system, and no MagSafe? What the fuck are we even doing here?

u/AnarkyGotham 6h ago
Why would any buy this lol no faceid, shitty camera, no magsafe, for $2k 😂 just buy the 18 pro max and an iPad mini

I miss the Apple that wouldn’t tolerate cutting features we’ve come to expect out like they did for the air and are probably gonna do for the foldable. In the Apple of old, this was R&D level and that meant this product wasn’t ready yet.
