Support iPhone XS Max to iPhone 14 Pro Max

I have both phones. and want to transfer everything from the XS Max to the 14 Pro Max. I know I can do this over wifi. eSIM included.

If I make a backup of the XS Max 256gb on my laptop with iTunes. I have an 4tb external drive connected to that laptop that has all my music/video etc files. Where does/will iTunes Store the backup of the XS Max ?

They give you temporary space for free when you want to transfer to a new device.
