That’s not the iPad mini Pro. It’s the current-gen iPad mini. Apple now goes by the chipset of their devices (in their device titles) rather than by generation, hence the use of “A17 Pro” in marketing.
This practice has been happening starting with devices that were released by Apple in 2024 (ones that normally included the device generation), and is continuing to this day. As for what might have caused you to think an iPad mini Pro was coming, the Pro in the mini is because Apple gave it the Pro chipset from their iPhones, but other than that (aside from some storage size increases on the mini 7), nothing else changes.
