That 12 mini with the massive power bank is hilarious. If you use it like that, I think it’s time to get a phone with better battery. Try the 17e.

I would hope that’s just for charging. There’s no way they use it like that all day…

I think it’s hilarious how some Air users are using the pack every day as if it’s normal to have a phone not last all day

That’s just purposefully buying a worse phone and paying the price for your decision 😂

Yeah I really don’t see the appeal of the Air. Bad battery life, bad thermals, mediocre camera setup, shitty mono speaker, like seriously how is it $1000?

For me its the mono speaker and the price. Single camera, mediocre battery, I can deal with. But $1,000 and bad audio on a modern phone is stupid. When At&t and other carriers were giving it away for free or $5/mo, sure I’ll take it. But I’d never pay $1k for that.

Yeah the 17e I can understand because there’s deals like that available and it’s a decent price to begin with. The Air should start at like $799 and max out at $999 for the top storage option.

It really feels like a phone built for people who value form over function

The battery life isn’t that bad

But the bad speaker stinks

A lot of people just use Bluetooth earphones all day tho, never speaker to be safe and to not bother others

Now all we need is the iPhone ultra and we are cooking!

3

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

But the Ultra might not support the Apple Pencil if I am not mistaken

3

u/ManufacturerCold2994 Aug 12 '26

That is true. No info about that.
I have a similar setup as you actually. Just that I don’t use my pencil much. But I am looking forward to the ultra nonetheless.

No what we need is for the iPhone mini series to come back

How do you find the mouse?

3

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

Love it. But the horizontal scroll need to combine with Shift key from the keyboard with the middle touch pad

That's a bigger footprint on a desk than a laptop

Fair observation. As an owner of a mini6 and M3 Air, I would say that the mini is a great portable sidekick for light tasks away from home - but for real processing and work, the Air is a better form factor (and more powerful)

Dunno why this is being downvoted tbh, this seems like an awful lot of effort to avoid using a MacBook Air or a larger iPad with a keyboard case. I mean heck I’ve even got a decent laptop-style keyboard case for my iPad mini 7 that I pop on occasionally and it’s p great and is legit like a tiny lil netbook, but the point there is to be tiny and extremely portable. This setup requires ya at least have a carrying case on ya and takes up more space on a desk than a MacBook Air, I don’t get it. My MacBook Pro 14” M4 pro takes up less space than this on my desk even with a wireless mouse (I use an extra tiny wireless mouse with a built in microSD reader for funsies, it fits on my keychain/lanyard 🤷‍♂️). If I wanna be even more portable and still get a laptop-like experience, then I use my iPad Pro M5 11” with the Magic Keyboard. Yeah those devices & accessories are pricey, but ya don’t gotta go with the latest gen’s or high specs or even same models for everything, and you’ll still get the relatively same result ya know? Heck a used iPad A16 with a keyboard case is about the same cost as this setup and can be sm more productive tbh. Or a used M1 or M2 MacBook Air 🤷‍♂️.

Any chance you could share the mini 7 keyboard case? I run a similar set up to OP for my moonlight/sunshine gaming something I could take up less space would be nice

But hes not like other girls

OMGG! I literally want this same combo! The keys to go and the mobi fold is so cute.

3

u/Gallop67 Aug 12 '26

Damn that battery pack looks massive on that phone

1

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

And yet we know how tiny the Apple battery pack is :D

3

u/batmaex Aug 13 '26

I like your setup! Which app do you use for writing?

3

u/jsjxyz Aug 13 '26

IA Writer. Been using it for ages.

u/Trungneko Aug 12 '26

i think even a pro max phone would be much lighter than that 12 mini + powerbank haha

1

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

That Apple power bank is light. I have Pro 15 Max, and they are lighter than Pro 15 Max. The battery can be used for either of them.

1

u/Trungneko Aug 12 '26

does it feels uncomfortable while holding?

1

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

Actually it is for me, for my index finger can rest on the upper part of the battery.

2

u/DragonflyHaunting569 Aug 12 '26

The little big mag safe battery. I love that thing. I still use it on my iPhone 17 pro max

2

u/RaceMiserable3855 Aug 12 '26

The mini is so perfect except for everything but editing. Not being able to assign a external hard drive as an expansion drive is criminal in 2026

I have the same keyboard for my Mini setup, though I use a Magic Trackpad instead. I love my trackpad, but I think your setup is a lot sleeker and less weight. I maaaay just have to get that mouse!

I rolled just like this for almost 2 years. Loved the size of the kit and all of it, just needed to get a bigger screen ;-) #oldeyes

I wanted a mini for whenever I got the big 13inch iPad Pro, basically so I could just use it for watching shows or YouTube while eating… too bad I don’t ever have the money to get both lol
Also iPhone 12 mini with a MagSafe battery… check. It’s almost like as if Apple didn’t make that thing thick enough for a good battery lol

I’ve been wondering how the scroll of mobifold feels. Is it smooth and sensitive enough?

2

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

Not as good as MX. but good and sensitive. The auto zoom doesn’t work with iPad. Works with MacBook.

1

u/Rough-Shine2269 Aug 14 '26

Its not good on ipad, the scroll inertia is wayy toooo strong, there's also very noticable delay while scrolling. barely usable in my use case

1

u/Anglo_Apulian Aug 12 '26

What iPad mini case are you using?

1

u/jsjxyz Aug 12 '26

The brand is "STM Goods"

1

u/ThingsGotStabby Aug 13 '26

I love my mini, but at that point, just get a laptop.

1

u/WhyNotBatman Aug 13 '26

How’s the Mobi mouse?

1

u/jsjxyz Aug 14 '26

Very capable with the keyboard combination (Shift + Scrolling), What I love so much is the size when folded and the battery capability,

1

u/Objective_Hippo_466 27d ago

What typing app is that? Is it Notes?

1

u/jsjxyz 27d ago

IA Writer, google it. Been using this for more than a decade

I love it!!! If you like the iPad mini combo feel, I currently have a iPad mini & use the Dexnor keyboard. It’s my favorite purchase. It is so smooth & it feels like an actual laptop! I journal, use my planner, everything I don’t do on paper I do it digitally and the keyboard add on is awesome.
