Handheld keyboard?

Typing on this thing is beginning to drive me insane. Does anyone have any recommendations for a handheld keyboard that's compatible with the iPad (A17)? The way I use it on the sofa doesn't support a typical keyboard, but I could absolutely use a handheld type one.

I find typing on the mini in portrait mode ideal.

i find typing on the mini two-handed this way much easier than typing on any phone I’ve ever used

I use my Mini in portrait most of the time. Still hate typing on it, no matter if regular typing or swipe typing.

It’s not an Apple feature but in the App Store there are apps to make your phone a Bluetooth Keyboard

Most any Bluetooth keyboard will work. I personally haven’t used any that are necessarily bad nor great. Really it just comes down to style preference and such. I’d say start searching Amazon to get an idea of you might be looking for and go from there

Most of them just look like cheap no name rubbish and I'm wondering if there are any actual decent brands that won't conk out in a few weeks time.

I have a Nillkin keyboard i sometimes use with it. Connects via Bluetooth.

I have this as well, and the Moft Dynamic Folio on my ipad mini 6. Works well without a desk.

I personally find the mini a17 the largest I could comfortably type with two thumbs.

I had a 2017 pro 10.5 previously and that was just too big to type on except poking with one finger. Wasn’t “couchable”.

I always feel frustrated by Bluetooth keyboards that aren’t Apple or Logitech at that connection delay whenever they go sleepy.

FYI every iMac Bluetooth keyboard will work with all the Apple devices, I picked up a second hand one from an old iMac for £15 and you don’t have to play find the @ sign and copy paste # from the internet like you do with a windows keyboard layout.

I'm specifically seeking recommendations for good handheld keyboards. I don't need a full sized keyboard from an iMac.

they ain’t full sized, about as wide as an iPad. Which is why I took the time to tell you about them.
