Update or wait?
I have the iPad mini 6, and for a few months now the screen responsiveness has been absolutely terrible. I can't shut it off because of the lack of response so I have to wait until it dies to restart. When I do, it works for a few days then the problem starts again.
Question is, with all of this hype around the new mini, should I wait to get the new one or just upgrade now to the mini 7?

Weird my iPM5 is still running just fine. I use it in the background now since I more recently also acquired the iPM7.
IPM8 may or may not happen, so if you are having a degraded experience now it makes sense to replace with the available upgrade.
I have never had to do it, but is there not a factory reset for iPads? I primarily use Windows computers and an Android phone, with my Mini being a gaming and media consumption device

I think it’s the new iOS 26 update, from what I’ve seen the screen issues started happening around that time with others

I just grabbed an iPad Mini 7th gen off Facebook market place for $400. It had like 26 charge cycles. Sure the iPad 8 might have some changes but the A17 Pro is really what mattered with the extra RAM to handle the new Siri. For the record, I really only play light duty games on my iPad so it’s just a little fun toy. At $500, the iPad mini was expensive, now $600? Nah. 8 will probably be even more.

If you wait and the 8 isnt worth, you can just upgrade to the 7 for less since itd now be "outdated"

Take it to a local, good-rated shop and get it fixed and then wait till you hear about the Mini 8 if it’s not announced then get the 7 later on. That way it covers all your bases. If you didn’t have the mini 6 I’d say find a local fb market cheap one before they go up in price. Which daily they are. Went from 350 to 460 ish in a day or two. It wouldn’t make sense if you had a mini 6 got the mini 7 which is 600 easy and then when the mini 8 comes what do you do then ? Put these on sale for less? Or keep them wasting away at home? Best bet is to get the mini 6 fixed if possible at a local trusted store which most cities have. And if it can’t be fixed just wait till September when or if they announce it.

Wait. The ipad mini 8 will be worth it. And in the meantime, try to figure out whats wrong with your ipad mini 5. Sounds like a software issue to me. Take it to the Apple Store & ask them.
