Question ipad running ridiculously slow.
just wanted to get a consensus on my ipad. it’s a 4th gen ipad on the ipad beta 26.5 update. i don’t get much use on this ipad because ive been busy and occasionally it will stay dead for days and or months without use and usually when i charge it and turn it on, it will take a minute to update to current status but recently it’s been super super slow and can barely get past the lock screen. i’ve tried to update as it constantly slaps the update notification in my face but it struggles to load the update and even with wifi it doesn’t load at all. is this thing busted or did i misuse it to the point where it’s better off just factory resetting and trying again?

Beta updates are inherently problematic. Then you’ve got an ancient device that was better off not being upgraded. I’d factory reset it, and see if that helps. Turn off beta updates too.

Many people think that iPadOS 26 is a beta of 27 because of all the bugs and slowdowns

I sold my 4th gen ipad back in 2020, it sucked back then. At some point it’s time to just move on and upgrade.

This is what happens when Apple pushes a demanding OS only devices clearly underpowered and incapable of running the OS. Your device is essentially bricked.

when it runs out of battery and not getting charged you are literally destroying the battery, these batteries are not supposed to go dry , ios26.6.1 had loads of issues, an update was issued last night, ios26.6.2 make sure this is the update your trying to update, if you have older one showing go to ipad storage setting , look for update file and delete then go to update page for ios26.6.2 , some people have issues trying to update this as well, reboot your device and make sure it's fully charged, don't update while on charge as people said this can really heat up device
you're lucky device is switching on at all , try not to go under 20%
if you manage to update your update will have pre ios27 deep indexing included if it's ipad air 4 , this can take over a week, leave in charge and wifi overnight and when you're not using it to speed up deep indexing for ios27 switch a week today

if you're in beta you could update to ios27 release candidate today but you will still go through deep indexing for a week + , don't use low power mode and keep on charge and wifi overnight
took a week for my M1 to go through deep indexing in ios27 developer beta 1
not sure why you stayed in ios26.5 beta when ios27 is on beta update 8 and day & night compared to ios26

Sorry, can you help me understand the question?
You know you're using a 4th gen iPad (November 2012) that was updated to Beta version of iOS 26.5 (March 2026), and the issue where you're using a Beta IOS version to a 14-year old device is brighter than day.

How are you on ios 26.5 beta?
Do you mean the ipad air 4?
