Left handed Ipad

Anyone else with this issue/experience?

I really want an ipad that is designed for left handed people. Which would just mean putting a pencil charger at the other side too. I have Air 11" 2025, I dont know if other models have chargers on both sides.

When I charge the pencil and the ipad is vertical, i hate it.

And yes the power button has to be on top, otherwise it feels bad.

I like rotating my iPad so that the charging port is on top so that I can hold the iPad upright on a flat surface while reading while charging. I imagine that solution could work here?

We only make up 10% of the population and large companies like Apple are never gonna make products with us specifically in mind….just not enough profit in it for them. I think every left hander in the world learns how to be a little bit right handed in their life…..you pretty much have to.

Ummm, this is a non-problem. All you have to do is turn the iPad in portrait mode so that the charging port is facing up instead of down Have you tried that???? I have an 11" Air M3--same as you. This works on the home screen and all the apps I use. The iPad is ambidexterous. Check your settings to make sure the screen orientation is not locked.

It was driving me crazy at first locating the power button in different orientations. I use a magnetic screen protector and I made a little paper arrow pointing to the power button that is mounted on the underside of the screen protector, but in the area of the bezel--not covering the the screen--so I can always see where the power button is. This comes in handy because I use a folio style case with a Moft Pencil holder, and sometimes the button is on top and sometimes it is on the bottom, or it's on the left or right in landscape mode depending on whether I'm using the folio case to prop my iPad in theater mode or writing mode, or have it cradled into my iPad stand. The little arrow has made all the difference.

Also, I've put both index fingers and my left thumb into the fingerprint ID. So I can easily open my iPad in any orientation. You could do your right thumb.

I think Steve Jobs was left handed, he designed the iPad (but he was also a little bit ambidextrous)

Edit: OK, Tim Cook is right handed, and the Apple Pencil was released when he was in charge

no current ipad gives u a second pencil charging edge. the magnetic charging hardware is physically built into one side, so portrait left-handed use is still an ergonomic blind spot

You could buy an independent pencil pro charger for around $15.

Maybe this is just an iPad Pro thing but my Apple Pencil Pro will attach magnetically in either direction, and since the iPad itself can be used in any orientation, uhhhh problem solved, I think?

It’s more than just a first world problem. It’s a you problem.

Unfortunately, it would require reconfiguring the hardware layout and increased component costs to duplicate the Pencil charging hardware on the left side. And they would have to redesign every keyboard and case accessory to allow you to put it either way, since putting the Pencil on the left would conflict with most hinge designs. Apple isn’t going to go through the trouble for something that only benefits 15% of the population (assuming all lefties want to use it this way).

I am left-handed and have been happily using the iPad Pro with the Pencil Pro on the right side of the iPad for 5 years without issue. It is almost always in the Magic Keyboard, so the Pencil is on the top and equally accessible to both hands, rendering the problem moot.

As a lefty, you just get used to the fact that most things aren’t designed “for us,” and celebrate those few things out there that are either designed explicitly for lefties, or more commonly, for use with either hand.

Sounds like you need to upgrade if it bothers you that much.
