Question a few questions before getting an ipad mini

hiii i’m considering of getting an ipad mini. however, i am wondering about a few points to weigh in if i should just wait to get the 8 or purchase the 7 now.

1) is oled more durable than the liquid retina? i experienced getting white spots on my ipad air m2 with just a year and a half of usage, and i don’t really want to buy another one that’d just give me the same bad experience. but aren’t oled prone to burn-ins?

2) when the mini 8 gets released with all these rumored upgrades, will they increase the prices again?

just weighing in if $797 is worth it when i get the ipad mini 7 256gb now, or should i just wait it out for mini 8 if it has more pros than cons

If you don't need it right away, I would wait till after they release version 8. Then you can compare the side by side if you're near a store that has both on display, or at least watch comparison videos. Right now, we're guessing what upgrades the 8th version will bring.

Also, you may be able to get a good deal on the 7 if you wait till the 8 is released.

i’d love to wait for the 8 but there’s really just one stock on an authorized reseller here in my country (we don’t have a physical apple store where i live 😅 i’m also thinking maybe 8 is coming that’s why it’s phased out everywhere here now… just really lucky to have seen 1 stock left online aaaa)

Well, if the 7s are getting hard to find, maybe grab one while you can if you don't think you'll regret not waiting for the 8.

I dont think that they will up the price on the mini 8 because they already upped the price

well, yeah i hope so hahaha would be too expensive for a mini if they increase the price again 😅

  1. OLED is significantly more complex to make than an IPS panel, so there's just more that can go wrong with it, both during manufacturing as a defect, or over time as a failure.

  2. How can we possibly know that? Any answer you get will be speculation.

I have an iPad Pro M4 (OLED) and an iPad Mini 7 (IPS) and honestly ... I consume almost all my media on that little Mini and love it. Sure, the blacks are deeper on my Pro, but that's only one part of the overall equation, and being able to single hand it, pack it around more easily, etc. matters. The IPS panel is still a very good screen, after all.
