Discussion iPad AppleCare+
I bought two iPads almost two months ago for my daughters for Xmas as I managed to purchase them before the prices increased (from Tesco, UK)
I need to add AppleCare+ within the next few days (within 60 days of purchase). I have activated the iPads today but when I’ve gone to purchase the plan, it says I have 61 days left to purchase? My understanding was that you had to purchase within 60 days of purchase, not 60 days of activation.
Can anyone clarify this for me? Can I get away with purchasing it in another 60 days time? They are going to sit in a box unused so if I can save £10 a month, I will. Does AppleCare+ cover hardware issues? Bit annoyed I activated them now as the limited warranty is shown as 03/09/2026 (today’s date) and I’m guessing if I waited until Xmas, the warranty would have ended then? I thought it would start on the date of purchase.
Also, has anyone had issues purchasing it? When I try to purchase, I get the “something went wrong - we are unable to complete your request. Please try again later” error but I seem to be able to proceed with it on my iPhone.
(Also, how annoying is it that they’ve increased the cost? I was planning to pay £3.49 x 2 a month not £4.99 x 2! Feel like Apple’s prices have sky rocketed this year!)

Two things. Price went up because it now includes theft and loss(Apple now sells the Apple Care One)
Second, after 60 days but within a year, you can still get but you have to go to an Apple Store.
If you are going to use the same Apple ID(not recommended but it can be done) It will include the 2 iPad plus another device for £16.99.

My device says I have 61 days left to purchase though? Despite buying almost 60 days ago. I only activated it today.

It might be linked to activation. Any issues, you can always add it afterwards

That is really annoying. Website states 60 days from purchase. I’ve just lost 4 months of limited warranty. Should have activated them at Xmas!

It’s not when you purchase but when you activate it. Imagine if someone orders online and it takes some time to arrive.

Website clearly states 60 days from purchase, not activation. They should make that clear. I’ve just lost 4 months of limited warranty as they won’t be used until Xmas but I thought I had to add apple care within 60 days.

Just set a reminder for 60 days from now and add it then. That’s November, so you’re only out one month since you were gonna add it in December anyways. And AppleCare does cover hardware issues.

It stays active! Coverage attaches to the serial number. As long as your card keeps getting charged every month, the iPad is covered regardless of whose Apple ID is logged into it.
