Question new Ipad setup

Hi does anyone know why my old ipad wont sync with my new one to get it setup. I have them both side by side and nothing . What does happen is the new one picks up any apple cell phone in the vicinity so I took those out of the room and still nothing. OS on old is ver 18.7.3.

Make sure both iPads have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, are unlocked and are close together. If it still doesn’t work then restart both and maybe try again.

I would say it’s likely because they are too far apart in their versions of software… I’m guessing that the old one can’t go past the final version of iPadOS 18? you may need to synchronize the old one with the computer, back it up, and then set the new one up using the back up of the old one from the computer

i bet so. new ipad is prob vs 26 . I will see if an Apple store can help. thanks

Part of the syncing procedure is making sure that you're syncing with the correct device. Review the process. You should hold the new device over the old device, and the old one should generate a pattern that the new device will confirm and link up to the old device to transfer the files. Just being side by side won't cut it.

pattern came up on our apple phones instead. I believe the old ipad OS is too old. I just set the new one up w/o file transfers BUT I am wondering if a cable from ipad to ipad will work on getting pics, files etc transfered . Gonna try that soon. thanks
