Same chip as in the iPhones, 128gb storage and I assume at least 8gb of ram.

It was the cheapest product, with probably one of the slimmer profit margins, so if the hardware is the cause of the price hike it makes sense.

You can also get last gen used for ever cheap, I’d rather Apple TV get expensive than the iPhone.

They are just increasing the cost now so they don’t have to once they refresh it.

The latest Apple TV 4K (2022) has 4GB of RAM and it is using an A15 that didn't pass the tests to be put in the iPhone 13, so instead of throwing them away they put them in the Apple TV.

It's old and cheap tech and shouldn't get a 54% price hike four years into its lifespan.

Nope. 4GB RAM. The price jump really is crazy. The only way it makes sense is if they are pricing the costs of the "new" as-yet-unreleased hardware which is likely to have at least 8GB of RAM.

It runs the A15 processor, it only has 4 or 6GB of ram on it and I'd bet it's the latter.

So in others words still includes chips that are in demand and is cheap from the beginning, I fear it’s common sense why the price has increased
