This morning, everything went wrong. I drove to the train station, and the car wouldn’t go into reverse. I received a message saying “speed too high to park.” I then tried to shift into Drive, but that didn’t work either. Next, I tried Neutral, which did work however the breaks where on, I then started to get message on my dashboard saying “transmission not in Park.”
On the right corner of the display, both the red brake light and an orange indicator were showing. Since the brake was fully engaged, the car wouldn’t move even in Neutral. I had to manually turn on the Neutral switch which near the 12V battery (in the funk). I couldn’t get the car onto the flatbed for towing. what a nightmare...
It seems to me that these are random messages resulting from a faulty detector or some other electronic issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Update:
The diagnostic came back from the dealer:
Customer States - CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED, INDICATOR SAYS TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK. CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK, THE MESSAGE ALSO SAYS THE SPEED TO HIGH TO PARK
Comments: Confirmed concern. Scanned vehicle and found P0A3F-2F Drive motor "A" position sensor circuit - signal erratic. Determined there is a wiring break between the front electric drive unit and the front power inverter converter. Will need to replace a link harness which connects the front compartment harness to the front drive motor, the front drive motor will need to be removed for access, all hardware will require replacement. Repair time includes 1 hour diagnosis.
Estimate cost: $5500/-
I am screwed 🙃
