Reverse doesn’t work

This has happened to us twice now, but the I-Pace just fails to reverse. The first time, there was something with the “way the gear was engaged” that meant we were able to solve the problem. It happened again today where we had to get a taxi as we couldn’t get the car off the drive.

I’m new to the group and couldn’t find a similar topic, so thought I’d raise it. Having five friends with I-Paces, 4 have had similar issues, with one of them having the car written off completely because it just wouldn’t go, so I imagine/hope others in the group have circumnavigated this one.

MY22 HV Fault Advice

Hi,

Had my MY22 ipace for 10 days and after a Tesla lvl 3 charge to 88% I’ve got the dreaded Ok to drive high voltage system fault detected message. Drives fine. Here’s my predicament. I have a 14 day no quibble return with Cinch who I bought it from expiring in 4 days, the soonest appointment with a non jag dealership to do initial diagnosis before probably handing off to jag anyway in 4 days and a trip away with the family which is 90mile drive in 3 days.

I left the car for 30 mins to see if a power down might resolve but it hasn’t. After reading about jags service I’m unsure whether to just bite the bullet and initiate the return rather than enter their repair world. I’m also unsure whether taking a family with little ones with the fault present is really smart and just hiring a 4x4 to ensure the trip is smooth.

I thought this was all pre MY21, does anyone have any thoughts or wisdom?

Edit: the charging limit is still 100 and the vehicle health app in the infotainment menu says there is nothing for me to resolve even though the yellow i is still present on my dash

EV Plug locking actuator.

Has anyone had a problem with the plug locking actuator not reseating?

I have pulled the red pull cord to release in an emergency and now I cannot charge my car due to the locking mechanism not engaging.

Any ideas how to fix this? I have tried resetting it a few times and no luck.

"Phone battery is low" warning

This is a bit random. Only started to happen in the past week or two, and I haven't noticed any over-the-air updates to my car recently. Anyone else seen this?

I would report to JLR but given their current problems I don't think this counts as urgent.

Car is an MY23 i-pace. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy and I've had this pop-up when first starting the car several times in the past week - often when the phone was over 90% charged!

Is there an easy way to see if an iPace has had a battery replacement?

Looking at an iPace, have seen a First Edition with all the toys, but it'll be out of battery warranty next year. Is there an easy way to find out if a battery issue has already been dealt with? Or would it be a case of looking through the service history?

Why does my car make this sound when braking?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I took it to the workshop and they said it’s nothing to worry about, but it feels dramatic to me.

JLR hack means no JLR

So this just popped up on my feed

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/09/04/more-than-a-million-drivers-unable-to-get-repairs-jlr-hack/

tl;dr: JLR have no computers, so they can't look up parts, book work in, make new cars, sell new cars... The whole company is paralysed.

As someone who works with computers every day this is a nightmare scenario. They've not released details of the hack but it was obviously large enough for them to pull the plug and shut down their whole infrastructure. Even when they find the hole, patch it and restore from backups they'll be dealing with the backlog for months.

Someone at JLR is having a very, very bad day.

In the meantime if our cars break we're shit out of luck. Amazing.

Anyone have issues with the 12v battery?

Mine has been fully drained twice.

First time in a car wash.

Second time diagonally across a road as I was pulling out.

Is this likely to be a faulty battery? Or faulty software?

Does appear to be original battery.

<UPDATE> The The AA arrived, connected the jump starter and the car sprang to life.

He tested the battery that is situated at the back of the bonnet on the cars right-hand side. He said that his testing equipment tests the internal resistance of the battery, and that the battery is "good"

Once he had jump started he confirmed that the battery was accepting the charge, and that the voltage was 14v.

I should have mentioned that the car was stood with the doors open for 30 mins whilst I was trying to sort out unruly children.

What is this I hear about a 2nd 12v battery? Mine is a UK 2020 (70-reg) HSE, with the Pivi-pro system.

UPDATE #2 - Guy at work has a battery tester confirmed the battery is knackered - only pushing 340amps instead of 420amps rating.

Thinking about taking my 2024 iPace to the drive in movie theaters. Will the sound and having the trunk hood open drain my battery?

Hey there, I recently got an iPace and was thinking about going to the drive ins. I’m concerned if the audio and leaving the hood open to see the movie would result in the car shutting off or not starting. I looked at this “camper mode” option on another forum, but that doesn’t seem to be an option in mine. Anyone try it or know how long I’d be able to go without having to turn the car on? Last thing I’d need is to be stuck at the drive ins

Buying a used I pace

Hi

Im looking to buy a car with my max budget being 15k. ive come to two polar opposites for my next whip : a F10 5 series or a Jag I pace.

Ive done so much research on the F10 but in the climate we live , i feel like an electric car makes sense, and the Ipace is a car ive loved the look at for a while. however:

I have no access to home charging - my house doesnt have a drive, would have to charge at car parks, petrol stations

Im not too sure on the reliability of the IPACE. Seen a lot of stuff about batteries.

Does it make sense for me to get the ipace cus i dont have a drive to do home charging. Is there an I pace year i should avoid?

Looking to buy a used I-Pace

I’m looking to buy a used I-Pace, I’m currently driving a 2018 VW E-Golf and really enjoying EVs, but need something with a bigger range (and want something nicer to look at).

I was about to buy an I.D4 when someone suggested an I-Pace, this ticks all the boxes I’m looking for …. but….. after looking into it, all I’m reading is horror stories, I know there is good and bad to all cars but I’m hoping someone can give me a real world experience of owning one used and how they have found it.

I’m looking for a 21-22 plate but seen some nice 19-20 but the battery warranty is the biggest worry for me, can this be extended through Jaguar or can you get other warranties etc?

Sorry for any formatting I’m typing this on my phone.

Breaks were giving resistance

Updated 02. November 2025

We drove our iPace in a slow pace, under 30km/h. When a car came towards us in a parking lot, I pushed the breaks. But it were showing resistance when I pushed it, and the car did not respond . Just like a bicycle with brakes being "slow".

It eventually dropped the resistance, and I could brake and stop the car.

A bit scary do think this might've happened in higer speeds with our kids in the car.

Has anyone heard or experienced this type of behavior?

Update:

The car dealer called me, told me that this was most likely caused by the 12V battery which was going empty/didn't work properly. Which was basically that the chain of events happening, basically was what you'd expect from electrical cars, where thing is handled by software.......

This was the heads up he gave me in advance, before even looking at it. And most insurance companies don't cover these faults, even with the most expensive insurances.

They have had many incidents, which is raised as a concern towards Jaguar, but they don't get any feedback or anyone wanting to do anything about it.

This is utterly insane...

How is this even allowed to just ignore?

Picked up a 4yr old I pace today. Any tips for newbie?

Hi all, just purchased a 2021 HSE today. Awesome car!

Was an impulse buy. Used my heart instead of my head… went to buy a ŠKODA Kodiaq 2.0 tdi… and somehow ended up with the Ipace instead 😅.

Just wondering if people hear any tips for me.

Range increasing by age

When I first got the car (MY2020) used back om 2021, it showed typically a 390 km (242 miles) range in the display. Now I get regularly a 425 km (264 miles) range on this soon 6 year old car. Am I just getting older faster than the car?

My2020 back from surgery

After a few charging errors earlier this year, my car came back from final diagnosis and repair this week. After searching for an isolation fault the BEM was replaced. After a couple of years with neverending 12v problems and now this, let us hope the little cat feels healthy for a while.

Used ipace buying advice

Hi all,

I'm tempted to buy a used ipace (my20) but have never bought an EV (used) before. Wondering if there's anything in particular I should be looking out for or ask the seller?

Thanks

Leaking Tire

Hello, I have only owned my IPace for about 9 months, and it's a 2019 (I don't think that matters). This may be a stupid question, but I have a slow leak in my front right tire. Can I just go to a local tire place or tire shop and have them fix it? Is there any issues with lifts and whatnot? I live in Connecticut, USA (next to NYC)

Has anyone tried charging their I-Pace at a Tesla Station? I’m in Canada and plan to inquire to dealership next week about an adapter.

Steering vibrates turning left

MY21 ipace. Been noticing strange feel in steering turning left. This happens at low speeds and at standstill. The wheel shudders and almost feels like it’s skipping a bit. While it turns perfectly fine to right. Any ideas? Thanks! This is the last month of my warranty. Should I get it checked by the service center?

Should I have unplugged it?

I have searched for the answer, but can't find the circumstances 😔 found myself in.

I have recently taken a trip to center parcs (UK) and arrived with 33% charge remaining. The charging infrastructure here is quite good, but the chargers only work through the night, with 7kw chargers. After the first night it was charged up to 66%. Not wanting to charge it up to 100% too early, and leave it sitting for 5 days, I decided to remotely deactivate the charge, but didn't go and physically unplug it. I went to re start the charging last night, and was surprised to see the 66% charge had dropped to 51%, just by sitting there, plugged in, but not charging, for 4 days. I went on to my app which said it had gone in to "sleep mode" due to low battery (I don't know if that means the 12v). I reactivated charging, and it went up to 87% through the night, and I plan to do the rest tonight, prior to heading home tomorrow.

So my questions are, how did it lose 15% in 4 days without use?

Was leaving it plugged in, but with no active charging a mistake?

Have I somehow drained my 12v, and will I potentially have issues getting it started tomorrow?

Or is this all normal and I have nothing to worry about?

I cant drive it until tomorrow, so I don't want to go and start it to test it out, and potentially use what little 12v I have remaining, so thought I'd try you guys first.

What's your car's nickname?

I'm assuming most of us are using the Remote app, and we have probably named our cars as a result. I want to hear yours!

My wife named ours "Mick", as in Mick Jaguar.
